Photo of several green leaves from a platanus tree against a cloudless blue sky. The leaves in the center are right in front of the Sun, which gives them a vibrant green color and a very bright white edge. If one looks very closely, one can see a flying insect between the leaves and some threads from spider webs, illuminated by the Sun, almost looking like shooting stars.
Enjoying the nice weather in my garden. Can you spot the flying insect?

Closeup of a damselfly (probably a blue tailed) sitting on a vertical green leaf. There are other light brown leaves from last year, and other plants out of focus in the background. The damselfly itself has a light-blue and black body where the blue parts look almost metallic.
Look what I found at my mini-pond in my garden. I believe it's a blue-tailed #damselfly, and I would be happy if any expert could confirm this.

I have to say, learning to play the #clarinet has a steep learning curve, if you have no talent, not enough time to practice, and you're not very young anymore. Nevertheless, I still enjoy it quite a lot, even if progress is slow. Today I managed to play 'Ode an die Freude' without major errors […]

Oh great. Overleaf has AI as well? And it works just as expected. First it hallucinates a problem that doesn't exist. Then it suggest a fix that doesn't work. And finally, it wants money for more 'helpful' suggestions.

Unfortunately, it was a bit cloudy today, but one can see clearly see the effect of the partial #eclipse on the yield of our solar modules. The Sun was covered about 20% at the maximum here near Cologne/Bonn.

- Earth Orientation Parameters (EOP) are essential for VLBI and provided by NASA.
- Global Ionospheric Total Electron Content (TEC) maps are also provided by NASA (jplg). There are alternatives (esag, codg, igsg), but I'm not sure how good or reliable they are.

Photo of a peaceful lake under a blue winter sky. The Sun is in the center at the upper edge of the image, and the sunshine is reflected many times by the small waves on the water, making it look like sparkling diamonds. There is a branch from a tree in the foreground, reaching to the center of the images. On the other shore of the lake, many trees without leaves are visible. The same scene from before from a different perspective, where one can clearly see that the bright shape is caused by an almost perfect alignment of a street lamp, a street sign, and an arc from a small gate in an remnant of the old city wall behind the construction fence.
I saw this fence at a construction site and wondered why the printed this cool logo of an open telescope dome on it.
It turned out to be just a chance alignment of a street lamp, a street sign, and an old gate from the old city wall.
