AC/DC have still never done one. I guess they’ve never needed to.

Curious how the trajectory of Glee mirrors that of Fame, a much bigger hit show in the UK than US.

Delighted you’re enjoying it! Cheers!

This was my attempt, while writing #IntoTheGroove to do The 1980s in 300 tracks.

Clearly many more ppl had HBO by then than I assumed!

Glee would have been when the really big popularity kicked in though, families watching on network TV.

Is oldies radio in America purely all about rock? I find that quite hard to believe.

The Mbappe Project: Making a Superstar Making a Superstar

Publication day! My new book, "The MbappΓ© Project", is officially out today. It is not a biography, but an attempt to understand and explain how a football prodigy was built into a global star by his entourage and by himself, retaining control every step of the way.

I wondered if it was US only. It feels like it has relatively little European relevance let alone anywhere else in the world. Although Last Christmas's high position suggests it can't just be America.

I do think she’s had too many hits perhaps which sounds odd to say but at odds with the past 15 years where like a lot of heritage artists, no real hits anymore. She β€˜needs’ to do some duets, like Elton.

If you’re a writer, this is a must.

For world book day a pal’s 10yo has gone dressed as Alan Bennet and frankly has won today as far as I’m concerned

She or Warners or both have fudged the back cat completely. There still isn't really a definitive greatest hits.

Another incredible High Concept storyline from Davey and Viz.

It's like: Did Bruce Forsyth end up automatically doing all the catchphrases at home.

Yeah, some of it was probably envy on my part. 'Why aren't I working in telly?' (Just as well, in the long run)

His partner produced it. As I say, it sounds a bit spiteful of me but there we are.

I also (slightly spitefully) hold it partly responsible for the rise of Ricky Gervais. As if nobody else would have put Portishead album tracks on the soundtrack.

Back in 96/97 we used to schedule phone chats for when it was on. I don't hate it as much as Al does, but I did find myself thinking, 'Why THIS show?'

I wonder if she turns them all down. She must be asked all the time, surely. Same with ads.

Happy #WorldBookDay, and in celebration, here is a picture of a book.

My book, in fact. I'm sure children everywhere are going to school dressed up as it.

Yeah, that's my gripe. It's not just lack of innovation, it's just not much fun either.

If you're wondering how I know the date of that, I was rifling through The Stage archive, and it just happened to cite the date of that shoot, which is bizarre because you don't normally see that kind of detail. Ironic it was a day when I wasn't in Gower.
