02.03.2026 14:10 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Thanks to those (assuming they're on Bluesky) who've recently given some four- and five-star ratings to #IntoTheGroove on amazon. I really appreciate it.

We had an excellent chat about Penny's career and music choices on my textcast #FirstLastAnything in the summer of 2023, and you can read it here. firstlastanything.co.uk/2025/05/20/f...

02.03.2026 14:03 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The trouble with some people who worked in academia, is they think everything needs 2,000 words of explanation and background.
02.03.2026 14:02 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The main thing, it seems, is that Matt Badlose got a colum out of his experience. You could have just written 'WHAT HAPPENED IS, I LOST, DESERVEDLY'.

'strangely'
I find it hard to believe some of these people have ever been to London.
Do you mean the one that also sampled the opening of Bohemian Rhapsody? If so, it's The Real Life by Corporation of One.

01.03.2026 23:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The orange bus is a nice specific touch.
01.03.2026 23:33 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Superted, Spottyman and Blotch walking on a pavement in Cardiff. There is a distinctive wall to the left with a turret motif and a road to the right.
Google Maps screenshot of Cardiff. The wall of Cardiff castle is on the left , then there is a road and the Angel Hotel on the right. It matches the previous image.
Superted, Spottyman and Blotch on a pavement, seen from the side. There is a wall with a stone animal in front of them and a castle behind them. Superted's rocket is parked in the castle grounds.
The same image taken from Google Maps in November 2022 but without the rocket.
Kicked off St David's Day watching Superted's 1980s road safety videos and matching them to their actual locations in Cardiff.
01.03.2026 08:43 β π 194 π 44 π¬ 7 π 4I hadnβt been paying attention of late to what heβd been saying but bloody hell.
01.03.2026 23:27 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Billy Corgan needs to read, for instance, my book. And about a thousand others.
01.03.2026 19:55 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I honestly think the worst idea ever for a feature in newspapers and magazines was the Rich List. Partly because, well, isnβt it obvious, but it sort of ushered in The List as a feature idea in its own right.
01.03.2026 19:50 β π 12 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0That ten seconds of Pippiβs song on that clip was very much the musical leitmotif, experienced live. It turned up a lot.
01.03.2026 19:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0All puppets I think. At this rate, someoneβs going to upload the drama serial Bobol Bach, in which human beings were reduced to the size of ants and terrorised by a ginormous mouse.
01.03.2026 19:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We went to see this with school live at the Patti Pavilion. It was our Woodstock or something.
01.03.2026 19:19 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I think it's telling re: Bernard's vocal that the 83 instrumental was considered fine for Substance. (I've never minded his voice on it, personally. It's Subculture where they really could have had another go.)
01.03.2026 14:03 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Mute always seemed faultless to me with distribution.
01.03.2026 12:54 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Is Bernard saying 'Fuckin' Housemartins' at the end of that re-recorded Confusion?
01.03.2026 12:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0I gather that Bernard hated his original vocal on Confusion (which is probably why it's in a different key). I'm not sure I know the reason for remaking Temptation.
01.03.2026 12:46 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I bought Power Corruption and Lies from Woolworths quite early on, not realising at that stage that Blue Monday wasn't going to be on it.
01.03.2026 12:44 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Oh actually I have to say I adored the Substance package. Had all the geekery of release dates, but it was all quite stylish and minimalist. And yet it was an imperfect/perfect compilation (wrong versions, mislabelling, and I never liked the Confusion remake, for instance).
01.03.2026 12:43 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0That True Faith typeface is really bugging me, because it isn't quite right. it's like a bootleg T-shirt company is doing it.
