Also feels like an insight into how Jess Phillips-does-sexy would look!
Today on 'That's so Birmingham City Council!', a new build primary school has been approved where the only way to access the school on foot is through crossing three sections of its car park. The new building will relocate a school from 1.4km away.
It’s a windy day here so right now Britain’s energy mix is 55% wind, 18% solar, 9% nuclear, 9% gas (and some others).
Meanwhile, in the UK this morning we have industrialists saying “in response to the energy price spike we must reduce climate policies”. Because when you bomb an oil producer and make fossil fuels more expensive and more insecure the response should be to return to greater fossil fuel use! 🤔
It’s a windy morning here - so currently Britain is getting 2/3rd of it’s energy from wind
Industrialists in UK calling to end green power policies in response to current prices and insecurity.
Ie: ‘we bombed oil to make it insecure and expensive, let react by going back to oil…’.
Thism”logic” no doubt explained by funding/lobbying…
These things are read through a lens of personal experience: my mum died 3 yrs ago as a knock on consequence of not being able to get a GP appointment, and I know 2 people who have waited 8+ hrs for ambulances after major incidents (eg broken leg). So for me these sound really positive. If true.
Hopefully the inquiry isn't just trying to keep angry graduates out of MP's inboxes. I had more to write than the 1,000 characters allowed!
I mostly wanted to point out that for every £1 I pay back, two-thirds gets swallowed up by new interest and that I'll pay back 200% before it is written off.
Is this a case of selective statistics, or genuine improvement? If the latter (and sustained) this is truly amazing and will be felt by many people in the coming months/years.
Who are the 26% of Britains who think it will have no impact/help their finances?!?!
This from the Daily Mail is quite something
The one tabloid that has done more damage to cultural cohesion, attacked diversity, migration, Islam, than any other, yet here they are praising the diversity of Dubai
It’s the psychology that makes a difference 🙄
Trump has sounded like he is getting his advice on Chagos from Farage for a while. This will get loads of attention but nothing will change.
I rather like the line about North Sea wind farms spoiling “the fields”. Those as some wet fields!
Really disturbs me that 4 guys visiting polling stations for 30 mins and clearly making shit up (1-in-8 voters pressured by family in polling stations, front of them!) is getting so much traction on the BBC, sky etc. This is a v worrying translation of an American political theme to the UK.
Shout out to Scotland 🏴, which is on track for a 90% GHG emission reduction by 2030 and has already achieved a 50% reduction on 1990 emissions. Staying strong 💪 while too many around the world wobble. 🙌

Intent really *does* matter. Having been on the receiving end of a lot of accidentally discriminatory language* it still hurts but it is very, very different to being subjected deliberate, conscious discrimination.
*my experiences a from lack of aware of the meaning, rather than involuntary speech
I know it isn’t his point but if “colonised” means people from abroad introducing their own moral/ethical code and imposing law/ government for their gain, he might have a point (ie what Britain did to “colonies”). But it would be the US Tech Billionaires not mass migration.
Depends what is meant by “colonised” if he means people from abroad introducing their own moral/ethical code and imposing law/ government for their / their nation’s gain, he might have a point. But it would be the US Tech Billionaires (which I doubt is who he meant).
My local high street has been flagged. Bastards. I thought we had moved on from this.
Thank you. This has got me chuckling all day.
Wow. There are over 100 countries in the world where mum’s have a higher survival rate… inc Turkmenistan, the Gaza Strip (pre Israeli destruction), El Salvador, the entirety of Europe… www.cia.gov/the-world-fa...
A police officer was hit with a sledgehammer during this violent attack. Do not conflate this event with peaceful protest. There are many ways to support Palestine and oppose genocide that are entirely legal.
These people were on trial for a violent attack - not for speaking up. The events happened before PA was proscribed. There doesn’t seem to be to be a question that the violence happened or it was by PA, eg a police officer being hit with a sledgehammer.
😂
This is really cool! It would be great to see it complete (though less great it has been such a long build!)
😂 Love this. My local LTN opposers need to up the craziness!
I haven’t seen the context - is the second sentence from Goodwin about academics? If so, how ridiculous to say they have no influence and yet “sold the majority down the river”. 🤔
But then he is a ridiculous, jealous, unpleasant man.
Isreal is a US proxy in the Middle East - financially and politically supported and armed by the US to cause disruption and distract Arab states from engaging further afield. We *could* aspire to the same status for us/Europe but it would mean starting a few wars. Not sure I’m up for it.
Everyone is jumping on this speech as a permanent change in position from Trump, and I hope they are right. But he has such a history of flip flopping I am worried an invasion will be on the cards again by next week.
It is hard to tell the difference. I am hopeful though.
