It.... depends. Lots of circular rehashing of will they won't they.

But I am very interested in queer coming out stories in a sports setting as fic genre homework, so I might read other books in the heated rivalry shared universe starring other couples

I am about 75% through it.

The prose is... fine. The narrative voices are also... just fine. The smut is written in a style that I don't personally find hot.

But there's something honest and compelling about the romance and character writing that makes me need to find out what happens next

But, sometimes you actually *do* meet the love of your life at 17

Few things!

Find something about each work that speaks to you or you want to target practicing. If the mindset is "wow I did xyz really well" maybe it helps the anxiety

Ignore all metrics and stats on ao3. Too many factors for kudos or comments

Write what you want. Readers *will* resonate with it

Another speculation is i also think an ice skating rink is a more fun setting to write and read about than a field-based sport . Easier to move from ice to locker room to an in-rink cafe and have varied interactions that feel realistic

In hockey the players fight each other all the time and blood being drawn is a common occurrence. In that form of physicality, perhaps 😅
