Yeah, it kinda blew my mind!

I actually started with the same technique because I find drawing on a computer a bit awkward still. Thought I was cheating until I found this out!

Did you know pixel backgrounds from old pc games were often just computer scanned traditional paintings?
After importing, they were then scaled and color limited.

It's really interesting how limitations became a style that is now emulated on purpose
