They aren't even remotely close to being done with their campaign but I can't give them what they deserve being burnt out and *that* has been breaking my heart too. So this is my silly thread on the internet to have my silly record of my special groups before I jump to hiatus time from dming

They're so creative and funny, they engage with combat almost scary efficiently but they're all a little crazy (positive) with challenging a god to a fight head on, robbing every wizard lizard in a colored tent they run across, and the releasing of a sentient maddened weapon. They're uniquely them

She came back after taking her own break from our previously closed out campaign and wanted to see if I had any seats open. It was good timing and felt amazing that I had made such a good impression. So we have our quad now and they're amazing. They think so outside of the box together

Over the course of a year, My partner had college and had to drop, the trio became a duo when one of them became a published author (and we are so proud of him), and then my new player vanished without a word. It left the duo and my old player. Then a light, another old player of mine messaged

That session 0 and finding out some of them were old school dnd players? Exciting but it sure as hell didn't help my nerves. When it started, this was a party of 6 with the trio, my partner joining, a new player, and a former player from a just closed out campaign I had done with them.

Then there's my other group I have right now. My quaddruplet who's been through it. I was given the remaining trio of players who had closed out the longest game that had been hosted at Huzzah! Games and I was beyond nervous after being told that.

I could not have asked for a better group of people to spend my evenings with and its breaking my heart that I can't carry them into another campaign right now as we close out our current one. They aren't rid of me of course but still the sadness and mantle of being their dm is there.

On the otherside, when I met them, this was a group of strangers who had never met before save for a dynamic duo that joined together. Over the years I got to see them all grow into close friends that hang out even beyond sessions. They support one anothers dreams, they've met families and even more

To explain the special of them, in the ttrpg side of things, they rarely missed a day. In a year there's maybe 3 sessions where its not a full party but they always make their session days. They're incrediable storytellers all on their own with serious rp moments and crazy combat that we cheered for

My first party I had when I orginally signed my contract with Huzzah! is still with me, by my side even after all these years and 2 soon to be 3 fully completed campaigns. They are my special group. The BoysTM and I've posted a bit about them on my socials from time to time.

But now I've had to take my step back and realize that I'm burnt out and over my bar to where I started halfassing and lamenting before I had to dm. Which is not like me at all so its been a process trying to figure out where it was coming from and landing on "I'm tired".

I dm a lot with having 2 campaigns going at once and at one point even 3 and I put my everything into as much as possible so burn out was inevitable as much as I don't want to acknowledge that. For the record, Im in charge of how many campaigns I run at once so its wholly on me just loving what I do

A Thread out of love:
I've been a DM at Huzzah! Games for 5years roughly and its been an incredible expirence and workspace. In those 5 years I've run 6 campaigns with 4 to full completion and only 1 falling through. However, I put in my hiatus notice a few days ago because I'm burnt out.
