I had to almost fight the optician to get regular old bifocals. She kept extolling the beauty of no peripheral vision and having to rotate my head when driving, but I managed to get my ugly bifocals. I’ve had a really good experience with them.

Reading a book and the thought comes to me: “All things serve the Beam.” They really do.

This Christmas has felt like it’s a pivot point in time. There are so many changes coming that Christmas will likely look different next year for our family. I’m simultaneously trying to be as present as possible and withdrawing internally. I hate it.

I love that Kurt’s disguise is basically Errol Flynn.

I was *obsessed* with this after getting my hands on the movie adaptation comic. Never saw the movie until Disney+ had it, and I wasn’t disappointed. Love old BOB.

I actually liked the new ones. The derivative nature of both the prequel and sequel series is discussed here and I kind of like it. A little academic but I still like it.

I was shushed (very politely, I must add) by a young lady today. I was discussing our new library robot vacuum overlord with a couple of custodians and we were talking too loudly for the quiet floor. She really was very lovely about it, and we were appropriately contrite.

Patron/Student: “So, is this a new thing to close at this time?”

Librarian: “Nope. It’s been this way since the dawn of time. Get out. NOW.”

My wife’s coworker shared that my name came up in a family memory over Thanksgiving, and then someone from another campus department came by and we recognized each other. He said he sees me around campus and it makes him smile.

My heart is full. ❤️

The good vibes continue. While visiting my wife in her office building, two different interactions brought up my public library past:

I just met up with our daughter to pick up something left at home (advantage of her being a student at the university where we work). She popped out of the building with an accordion strapped to her torso, which was the last thing I expected. It’s also the best thing I’ve seen in a while. ❤️
