You can (try to) justify going to war with Iran.
But you can't justify a president soaking the Constitution to start that war by himself without Congress. That's not how America works. Just resign en masse & leave the chamber empty if you're not going to do your jobs; it will have the same effect.
βIf Kamala wins, only death and destruction await because she is the candidate of endless wars. I am the candidate of peace. I am peace.β - Trump, 11/1/24
βIβm not going to start a war, Iβm going to stop wars.β - Trump, 11/5/24
Why doesn't the US face the same kind of sanctions as other global bad actors?

Bombing a sovereign nation at this massive scale without Congressional authorization is blatantly unconstitutional.
The flag, general, & maybe even field-grade officers who carried this out followed illegal orders.
Likely under secular law (though I am no attorney), but certainly under moral law.

This U.S. attack on Iran is pure evil. Every member of Congress who refuses to impeach & convict Trump for doing this without authorization or provocation has blood on their hands.
To Iranian civilians with bombs raining down, I am so sorry.
To God, I am so sorry.
Let the American people repent.
If I was in Congress, I would attend tonight's SOTU but then just sit there reading a book the whole time and not look up once. Maybe Lord of the Rings, maybe the Gospel According to Luke.

Last night's storytelling was also fine form. And I'm always grateful for Traveling Alone.
Thank you Jason. Sorry you had to cancel New Haven, where I live & was excited, but I appreciate you putting safety first. Thank you for everything.
Last night solo & tonight band were my 16 & 17 Jason Isbell shows. They might have been the best yet, especially tonight. I've never seen him do 2.5 hours before. And those encore blues-rock performances of Danko/Manuel & King of Oklahoma? WOW. WOW.

19.02.2026 21:17 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I want applicants to understand that AI cover letters make their applications significantly more likely to get rejected. When your answer is verbatim what I got from 100 other people, it means I know nothing about you, your writing skill, or your actual work. I can only go off a scan of your resume.

The Ash Wednesday procession through the Chicago suburb of Melrose Park from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church - honoring immigrants, immigration detainees and those killed by ICE & Border Patrol - has begun.
Chicago Archbishop and Cardinal Blase Cupich is near the head of the march.

Just published: My new op-ed responding to a prominent columnist (whom I actually really like) for admonishing clergy not to push Rep. Rosa DeLauro on abolishing ICE.
βIt will take far more than warrants and body cameras to build that beloved community and reveal the Kingdom of God on earth.β
My latest Substack, recounting this month's heated clergy roundtable with Rep. Rosa DeLauro over abolishing ICE: nathanempsall.substack.com/p/clergy-tel...
While not every faith leader in the room wanted full abolishment, I believe all of us feel the moral need for more than Dems are offering.

Facebook plans to put facial recognition in its glasses and they think weβre too stupid to fight back.
Their internal memo: βWe will launch during a dynamic political environment where many civil society groups that we would expect to attack us would have their resources focused on other concerns.β
