I've seen some movies near or right at release since Covid but none have felt... good? Like, great animation, but none of the music stuck and the writing can feel outright insulting (Zootopia 2 was entirely "remember Zootopia 1?!"). Feels like it's back in another straight to VHS sequel era somehow

BOOK FESTIVAL ANNOUNCEMENT! @sgoetter.bsky.social and I are going to be guests at the Tucson Festival of Books this weekend and returning to the San Antonio Book Festival in April.
I feel like the conversation around crazy + insane + similar words is a more recent one and may not hold the same weight as when people use "bitch" or similar well known awful terms but it's nice to see folks speaking up for better language use 'cause that's how we learn and improve.
That said, I definitely still catch myself using this kind of language so it's something I'm working on, too! Part of trying to grow as people 💚

It's similar to the word "bitch" - of course calling a thing a bitch is very different than calling a person a bitch, but if someone is comfortable enough to be saying bitch/crazy/etc. often then it broadcasts a level of comfort with language mainly used to punch down or judge other people.
If that was me, it was actually a "no" response! Which I'm sure matches a handful of other no's, because that was the original concern. Even if it's not a direct insult to the person, hearing harmful language says something about the one using it. Something can be a red flag even when not insulting.
