Help us spread the word!
The last 100 days have been an unprecedented assault on American science. Our scientists. Our institutions. And the people around the world who rely on it. We must stand united and speak up. Our collective future depends on it. #ScienceMatters www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPlu... savesciencenow.org
When I starting studying, I had no idea that I would become a professor during a time in which knowledge itself would be attacked so directly. I also had no idea how much linguistics would help me process these attacks. Thanks @caitlinmoriah.bsky.social and @trentnelson.bsky.social for having me!
Not biased at all, but great episode ;)

Love a good #pubday post!! This one is special, not only because of the case study explored, but because of the ways it shows Black linguistic dexterity! Black children are truly gifted!

The hiking groups could be a way. There is a Black Hikers group on FB (sometimes messy but mostly ok to make friends for hikes) that could be good.
As a linguistics professor, this is the kind of content that makes my heart smile. 😂
I'm with you dad and depending on how much you want to get into it, I would suggest becoming a member at REI. Their deals for members are great and you could pick up some hiking/walking sticks too that help with both balance and to knock s%^t out of your way!
Snacks, water, and a plan. There is an app called AllTrails that I use and it helps me know whether things have been shut down due to weather and plan out how far I want to go. I usually pick features I want to see (think waterfall) and then I put on my location share with the besties and head out!
Thrilled to share something we have been working on for years! Racial Justice in Multilingual Education is a bold new space for groundbreaking ideas, fresh perspectives, and innovative research. #NewJournal #MultilingualEducation

Yes, thank you. I'm working on it from the linguistic standpoint mapping the heterogenous languaging practices involved in performing identity amongst Black Spanish speakers and the story you all have presented is very salient in my interviews so far!
Ooooh this is very aligned with the data I'm currently collecting for my book. Thanks for writing it!!
Genocide, scholasticide, and epistemicide. Historically and that are happening right now… love you, Chanda, for consistently getting the word out and educating our people. docs.google.com/document/d/1...
This is the energy I strive for!!
Our project team that created a free, open-access Spanish language curriculum centering Black learners and Black populations in Latin America was awarded a $150K NEH grant! Congrats to our PI @deborahgomezgomez.bsky.social and co-investigators @clemonsaris.bsky.social @melissabaralt.bsky.social!
We got another grant! Huge congratulations to PI @deborahgomezgomez.bsky.social and fellow Co-Is @ujuanya.bsky.social & @clemonsaris.bsky.social ! Together we’re advancing TBLT and creating meaningful change in language education based on students real-world needs!
For those of you who are just meting me, this is a project that we have been working on for a while and really captures the essence of why I do the work I do! So excited to be continuing the work with these amazing scholars!
OMG, I literally just smashed on a handful of almonds instead of getting a meal! oops!
It has been a journey and I loved every stage!!
One of the most harmful things about deficit raciolingustic ideologies, is that we internalize them about ourselves. eg. I speak "broken English", "my Spanish isn't good enough"

If you are in a teaching context that is hostile towards terms like DEI, diversity, etc. we can change our language.
Linguistic diversity? No, linguistic accuracy.
It's more accurate to portray diversity as variety, accuracy, authenticity.
