I get that! I didn't have that experience with Google but am sure that lock in is on its way - they all aim to lock us into their ecosystems so no laws or unethical behaviour can tempt leaving. Right now, I'm straddling both kSuite & Google Calendar because there was no viable alternative... yet...
I set up an account a few days ago - it’s got promise, looks great but not enough diverse voices there yet but it’s early days yet!
I've switched to Infomaniak kSuite - mail, calendar, meetings, docs, drive & transfers all in the one for less than Workspace. Biggest struggle for me so far is calendar - integrations for CalDAV are patchy so things that were simple in Google Calendar (like scheduler integration) are a struggle...
