Just goes to show how they can easily come up with reasoning to support universal basic income when they want to. Yes, UBI is a dividend for shareholders. As citizens, we are all shareholders.

Also, we ALL created the capital that AI is trained on. We should all be paid a GDP dividend EVERY MONTH.

We can do universal basic income right now, at the poverty level of $15k/year. No more robots required. It already makes sense to do. Replacing existing tax expenditures like the standard deduction would reduce its cost, and we'd save more than it costs in reduced spending on the impacts of poverty.

Universal basic income would enable me to pay rent for a home that isn't full of respirable asbestos fibres, buy nourishing food for every meal within my medical dietary restrictions, afford healthcare & disability supports that would increase my functional capacity. I'd be a whole person.

Universal basic income would be more economical than the multilayered social assistance programs most countries have in place. Just removing the sea of bureaucracy required to means test would result in massive savings over the current systems. #UBI

Much of that work is #seasonal, and for the first few years of our careers, many of us are itinerant field workers. #UBI would help us make rent, food, medical care payments in between seasonal employment.

Universal Basic Income defeats one of the main issues of social safety net programs: it’s not limited to people who meet certain qualifications. It helps to “cover the gaps” for folks who make too much to qualify for many programs but who still can’t afford to live in their communities.
