In the background, I have been working with policy leaders in #Colorado on designing what a universal basic income program could look like statewide. So much possibility!

Coloradoans deserve a collective income floor to weather the storms that life, climate change & politics throw at any of us.

A #UBI could mean I could do what I wanted and need to do once my work is done instead of pretending to look busy for the rest of my paid hours.

Sitting still in an office for hours on end is unhealthy.

This onion won’t make me cry meme Those who advocate for a jobs guarantee alongside universal basic income are, at their core, undermining human rights by imposing criteria for who is deemed deserving and who is not.

This onion cuts deep for those who insist that a jobs guarantee must accompany basic income. It exposes the contradiction of offering security while still demanding justification for one’s right to it.

Picture is an update for the UBI hashtag banner app, cleaned up the style to be more mobile friendly and modern elements style. A Universal Basic Income will curb crime. As needs like food are met, there will much less incentive for people to steal things. A UBI will help people get by, give negotiating power by the working class, help soften the blow from sudden big payments and help pump cash back into local communities.

With universal basic income I would be able to escape entrenched poverty, stabilise my chronic illness and disability, return to and finish my law degree, become a legal practitioner, and represent disadvantaged people against unjust administrative systems.

Universal basic income would allow people to work the jobs they want to work, not the ones they may need to work.

Or heck it could take the sting off not working to pursue education. For me, it would be pursuing my PhD in psychology which is out of reach now.
