Why should Sadiq Khan implement a small and mildly effective charge on wealth SUV owners in London when you could just ban them altogether?
Weekly montage for the week commencing 2nd March 2026.
8 drivers reported for mobile phone use.
8 drivers receiving Notice of Intended Prosecutions.
100% success rate.
Not all heroes wear capes
Luckily I was there to record this and help the driver see this footage.
How many years has it been since SatNavs were invented? Or since phone cradles were invented?
And yet, we still see drivers HOLDING their phone for map directions. Phone cradles cost as little as £5 but a fine for phone use starts at £200 and what about the new insurance costs?
Circling, circling, circling.
Closer and closer and then boom, the "money" shot.
Serving up 6points, a fine, and extremely expensive insurance for the next FIVE years.
But we're always told not to report drivers on their phone who are caught when stationary. Why? Because they will always put the phone down before moving forward.
Will they? Not in my experience.
This driver will soon be getting 6 points, a fine, and some very hefty insurance quotes.
Oh dear. Oh dear, oh dear. And what have we here?
Such a distracted driver. Good job I was there to draw his attention to the fact that he was driving a motor vehicle on a road. I'll help him remember this by reporting this to the police so they can issue some "guidance".
Yeah, I mean it would be scary if you were riding at speed but I was barely above walking speed so it's really not an issue.
I was only there because this 200metre stretch of road guarantees at least one mobile phone driver every single time I use it.
Wow, illegal to overtake a motor vehicle? What’s the reason why? Does the same rule apply for motor bike riders?
Phone-use drivers are like buses, you can wait ages for one and then two come along at once.
Love the ol' "quick right hand to left hand" technique of the Centrica driver (it won't save him) as opposed to the dimwitted brazen style of the Seat driver.
Try all you want to hide it, we'll catch you.
Luckily for this scumbag I didn't get a chance to see their reg plate.
Absolutely appalling behaviour.
You got there 2mins before me with the exact gif I was gonna look for.
The worst thing about driving into London isn't the traffic. It's the unstoppable urge to check your messages and reply to people.
Anyone want to guess how far this woman rolled her car forward without realising?
Another well-deserved 6pts for someone who should have taken the bus.
100% with that proposal.
Exactly. Lifetime bans need to be brought in and automatically applied for 2nd time phone offenders.
If this driver had been on his bicycle, then he would have been having a lovely bit of exercise, and he wouldn't have felt the pressure to check his emails whilst waiting for traffic to move.
Notice how he doesn't look up or check around him before lurching forward. 6pts well deserved.
It's hard to tell whether it's as intended but this was the section from the final plan
This is Kingston Council’s “mini holland” scheme. They’ve got such an odd sense of humour.
I do the same and have at least half a dozen drivers NIP'd for either close passing or near misses as a result of them impatiently trying to push past me on that section.
Yup. That’s what you get on Kingston council’s flagship cycle lanes.
Social justice types:
- Look at that dangerous bus stop with cyclists putting bus users' lives in danger!
- What about the 1 tonne motor vehicle?
- Oh, that's okay. Carry on.
Proper driver brained mentality. They’ll scream and cry about the “deadly” danger posed by a cyclist to a pedestrian but totally ignore the far far far greater danger posed by drivers
It’s hard to believe that this is actually the outcome that Kingston council wanted for their new multi-million pound bike lane works.
Is it? They’ve put up a sign permitting pavement parking here so drivers are apparently fine to do this and force conflict between pedestrians and cyclists.
Yup. I’ve seen it many times. Driver is distracted on the phone, doesn’t look up but peripheral vision has detected the traffic moving and the driver just lunges their car forward without looking.
100%. It allows drivers to be sloppy when driving massive vehicles. If they had to work to steer it then they’d buy smaller cars to suit their abilities. But they can drive 2.5tn monsters as easily as a Nissan micra.
Ideally, far away from public transport links. A nice long walk would do them some good
I might do a FOI on Southwark to see what sort of revenue this generates and at what cost. Would love to see it rolled out across London.
