So Mary being a virgin could've meant anything other than physical chastity, and it's often argued that it does. But European purity culture and a need to control and subjugate changed the definition to strictly mean one thing. Chastity.

In many cases what is now referred to as virgin *also* meant: maiden, young girl, unmarried woman, daughter, sweetheart (usually platonic or familial term of endearment), or just someone who rejected men.

I was reading more on how European Christianity ruined things, and apparently they changed the definition of virgin. Which makes a lot of sense, not just in terms of it being used as a weapon, but in old stories.

This doesn't mean you should stop supporting your library! Keep going! Keep borrowing books, music, etc. Keep taking classes. Keep showing up!
