Detailed Description Follows: Layla continues talking to Chamomile outside the vets, saying "Anyway, the real point I was getting to, is that when Jamila became fully mine, I definitely freaked out at the responsibility and made a bunch of dumb mistakes too. But I learned, I researched, I took it seriously when I messed up. That's kind of all you can do." She smiles and rubs her neck awkwardly as she then says "Granted, I was also dealing with a bunch of mental and emotional gymnastics in terms of my family's and faith's outlook on dog ownership, buuuut... that's my own business." We return to the flashback of Layla's University life once again, where she is sat crosslegged on her own bed rather than at Shevaun's flat. She looks very stressed and in deep thought, as the puppy Jamila sleeps contently in her lap with little hearts coming from her head. Layla thinks to herself through a series of thought balloons, suggesting each of the following lines is a separate thought with a moment between each one: "I can't actually keep her permanently can I? We have such a bond now though, it'd be an act of animal cruelty to separate her from me... I mean it's okay to have a dog as long as they serve a purpose beyond companionship, like a job. "Being the most precious and good best girl" is a job right? No Layla, that theological debate was covered thoroughly between 6-year old Layla and Layla's Mum already... And 12-year-old Layla and Layla's Mum... And 17-year-old Layla and Layla's Mum..." The final thought balloon is slightly going out of frame, suggesting this is far from the end of her internal discussion. End of comic.
