Set in 1871, the judge in Young Sherlock threatens transportation to Australia and Sherlock Holmes cites the Penal Servitude Act 1857 to get out of it.
When the process ended to Western Australia in 1868 anyway...
How do I footnote Young Sherlock?
'Royal Expert' is my back up, I can easily make something up about someone else's family and sound confident 😂
And now for something completely different.
🚨 Final week! Call for Papers closes next Friday, 20th Feb.
History documentaries really need to stop using AI too.
Cheers for the pret 😂 after I zoned out the conversation I was having to hear it 😅 looking forward to working on it, it's also given me a few ideas for other articles.
In that case there's no hurry 😅

CFP: Nostalgia and Radical Politics, Past and Present (15-16 June, @uninorthampton.bsky.social) 🗃️We are interested in how nostalgia – which has often been associated with conservatism – is utilised by individuals, groups and movements that may be characterised as politically radical.

Looking forward to this!
A little over a week left to get those EOIs in. We have already received some great proposals, so it's shaping up to be an excellent day.
Presented 'The Process of Convict Transportation to the American and Australian British Penal Colonies, and within British-Occupied India: A Comparative Study' today based on the first chapter of my PhD thesis today.
Great opportunity to get some feedback from other researchers.

"Do you know why it happened here? Because people let it happen"
The bruschetta platter and leek sausage and gorgonzola lasagna at Gli Angeletti were unreal
History content creators working with Rylan talking about the witch trials.
I wonder if Rylan picked up on the similarities of a man using his position of power to use women as scapegoats for problems and Rylan using his platform on national TV to scapegoat migrants.
Gives me the ick to see social media history girlies do press with Rylan. They preach empathy and ethics in the portrayal of history + the representation of marginalised people and then do press with someone who recently said very awful things towards refugees. Empathy pending 70+ years post death??
Official release of Northamptonshire's HER website. A fantastic resource for exploring the heritage of the county!
Nigel Farage doesn’t think the Prime Minister should have free speech in this country. But he’ll tell foreigners that yours is somehow under threat from the Prime Minister. He’s a whiny little liar. Always has been. Always will be.
The summer has been a busy time for the project researchers too: cataloguing, presenting at conferences, discussing future publications and recording a second series of the #songdetectorists!
Here we are at Northamptonshire Archives with @matthewbannister.bsky.social and Sarah Bridges
