It’s fundamental: Moldova’s election results and its EU future - Transparency International EU EU leaders breathed a sigh of relief on Sunday, as it appeared Moldovan citizens had fended off widespread Russian interference to re-elect its pro-European ruling party, Party of Action and…

Last week, Moldovan voters rejected a sophisticated Russian interference campaign to put Moldova on a continued EU course. But the EU cannot see these results as an excuse to maintain the status quo: congratulations alone will not secure future elections.

Today is Universal Access to Information Day. But instead of being open towards its citizens, the European Commission has actually made it harder for outsiders to follow how it makes decisions.

It's time for the EU to stop hiding behind rules that block transparency.

Last week, the Georgian Prosecutor's Office summoned the director of our Georgian counterpart for questioning, under entirely unfounded accusations.

This move is politically motivated, and the latest assault by the Georgian government on democracy.

🔬How easy is it for authorities across the EU to uncover financial crime?

In an ideal world, corruption investigators could enter a suspect’s name into a database and instantly see all the assets connected to that individual.

Today is #InternationalDayofDemocracy. But in the EU and its neighbourhood, governments are reversing democratic values alarmingly.

At home, the EU must use all tools in its power to safeguard the rule of law.

And it must make democracy an essential condition for EU membership—without compromise.

Independent media must be strengthened. But if the EU wants to be taken seriously about stopping corruption, it must promote integrity within its own institutions.

The Commission should start with upholding transparency on the inside, especially in times of war and climate breakdown.

We are extremely concerned to see the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza, where more than 100 international aid organisations and human rights groups are warning of mass starvation.

We have colleagues at AMAN-Transparency Palestine (Transparency International Palestine) who remain in Gaza with their families and are experiencing chronic hunger and dehydration, in unimaginably dire conditions.. As a global movement committed to fighting for a world without corruption, we believe that everyone has the right to be treated with dignity and to live safely and freely in their country.

We stand with our colleagues across the region and support calls for an immediate ceasefire, the opening of all land crossings, and the free and safe flow of humanitarian aid through UN-led mechanisms. We are also appealing for the urgent release of all remaining hostages.

Complaint: the ECHA's contracts with Ramboll - Transparency International EU Today, Transparency International EU, alongside other NGOs dedicated to transparency and ethics in the European Union, submitted a complaint to the Executive Director of the European Chemicals Agency…

According to reporting, the European Chemicals Agency has sought advice on so-called 'forever chemicals' from a consultancy that works for...the chemicals industry.

We fail to see how this doesn't constitute a huge conflict-of-interest risk.

Parliament must take responsibility for its own funds and recover any misused funds. It must also investigate whether further rules were breached, and refer any criminal matters to the European Public Prosecutor's Office.

This comes as no surprise, given that the European Parliament has delegated management of finances to political groups (with little to no oversight) who are often embroiled in fraud themselves.
