Which I honestly think is an issue of its own. Con block hotels might not always be the cheapest option, but they provide an incentive to keep prices low in other places.

I dunno, I like to stay as close to a con as possible, makes it easier to store stuff and retreat if needed.

Ok now I'm starting to wonder how large EF could get at the current location... I've been told not *that* large, but what is the limit?

To be clear: NFC was a blast, going again this year and I wanna try EF too. But afaik there's nowhere you could hold a 20k con in EU if size is what you're after. And it would be cool imo to have like one of that level here.

I was at NFC last year which is now capping attendance at 5.5k due to space limitations. EF had 6.7k this year and had to rent a convention center, which in contrast to the US ones is not attached to a hotel complex, as well as not being anywhere the size.
Large cons exist but EU large != US large

I wish we had an MFF-like in Europe. We just don't have the locations to even house that size of a con.

I was chronically lazy which was starting to get to me, struggling to find the right group to work out with when I was recommended this. I ended up getting VR because I knew I really wanted to be there proper.
Now it's been 1.5 years, with 9 months in VR, I feel so much fitter, and it's a blast!

Honestly what annoys me the most is that as an engineer, the whole server architecture is still quite relevant. X-forwarding is just such a helpful tool. I get the trade-offs but damn

So basically go smoothly from tempo A to B, instead of just having a tempo marker, and having samples change speed gradually with the automation

@tantacrul.bsky.social will there be a way to do gentle tempo automation in Audacity? It's something not all DAWs handle properly, especially when you need to gradually increase the speed warp of a sample

Depending on your setup, a friend has tried both and they seem to work

Fair warning: Ubuntu can be totally fine or quite broken. It's a bit hit or miss. If it's the latter, don't give up, there's others.

And once you're comfortable tinkering a bit, there's even open source Linux stuff to get VR going, but one step after another.

The guy running the show is grassroots, he really cares for the project. And he specifically requested feedback on the branding. I'm not saying it's great, I think they could have done better. But they are genuinely trying and not clouding it in corpo bs

Slightly different example: Checked our Grafana for our (local only) smart home sensors. You can see absolutely everything (from temperature and humidity alone): When we shower, when we cook, when we're on vacation, ...
Ain't no way I'm giving that data to anyone, let alone personal preferences

So the complaint is just deluded

The issue is people want what Silicon Valley sold them for the last 25 years: The best service - for free. "Come to our platform, we do everything for no money." Ignore the invested billions waiting to exploit it later. But that means you can't have privacy. You can't not pay and not be the product.

As an IT admin, printers are impressively horrible (software wise). But given ink is sold in cartridges for more money than its weight in gold, you definitely want a printer with tanks.

Only to immediately admit that it's mostly meant to target adults
