It might not be a big deal to anyone, but after long illnesses, surgery last year, and a fuckton of stress my hair is starting to recover after thinning out out of protest. I’m becoming fluffy again and it’s making me happy. Even if for just a brief moment.

If I’m too “radical” to be a sociologist then perhaps the discipline is too conservative to have uncomfortable conversations because it might offend its financial sponsors. It’s in our name, dummies: the study of people IN society and their influence ON society and society’s influence on individuals

I’m very disappointed in the American Sociological Association in their efforts to remain neutral to retain members. The issue with this: as sociologists we have an ethical obligation and duty to showcase the blindspots of society and be advocates of change. If we can’t do that, what are we?

Many truths exist: being pro-Palestine and acknowledging the genocide happening, being pro-Iran independence without US intervention/involvement through war/violent conflict, and being against hate and violence towards Jewish communities. We must be able to hold space for all the above plus more.

No wonder I can’t get into a PhD program studying fascism when this is how our leadership within ASA views itself. This ASA will be my last one.

My pizza delivery driver wished me to have a beautiful evening, so, I feel like there is some hope for us all in this thing we call humanity.

Ms Rachel has shifted from advocating for children killed by bombs that our taxes pay for, to advocating for children that our government is imprisoning without cause, which our taxes also pay for.
This isn’t what a kid’s entertainer should feel the need to do, but since we’re here, more ppl should.

This will be my last ASA.

We learned a lot from witnessing the uprising of fascism and fascist regimes in the 1930s and 1940s. We understood as a society that education was the key to success against these forces. Open and honest education, that is.

The less we are allowed to express ourselves even in our dissent, the more fascism takes root ready to sow its seeds of fear against those who will not comply with its absolute rules.

Let there be as much outrage from politicians in Washington when kids go hungry as there is when I break bread with New Yorkers.

The world powers are reshuffling because America is not a good neighbor, not a good friend. We’re the ones stabbing people in the back and crying about treachery.

Found the most magical little book store, ever. Dropped a significant portion of my paycheck there. No regrets.

Someone in NYC should do interviews with middle-school kids who take the subway to and from school every day, to see if they have any advice for Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy who can't seem to go a single day without pissing himself in fear over them.

Fascism is not always about bootlicking, it can sometimes be about wearing shoes that are too big for you because the leader gave them to you.

I’m trying a new method of teaching tomorrow, and by new I mean as old as time. Socrates would be proud of me. I’m going to attempt structured debate around important topics from a sociological perspective. Wish me luck, kids.

I seriously want receipts and a detailed explanation for why healthcare, public housing, and education cannot be funded because we obviously have/had the money.

There is a reason I turned to online shopping: they take my money and leave me alone. I miss being able to just have a normal conversation with the cashier then pay, leave, and feel my dopamine rush from shopping. Now it’s regret from overspending.

It’s my one and only wish for the 21st century to actually eliminate this weird ass practice that doesn’t actually do anything except make us all cranky.
