Tall leafless cottonwoods line the trail through tawny grasses and cloudy blue skies.
The Clarks Fork River running through Sundance Recreation Area.
A wooden bench overlooks the river.
That time of year thou mayst in me behold
When yellow leaves, or none, or few, do hang
Upon those boughs which shake against the cold,
Bare ruin'd choirs, where late the sweet birds sang.

Sunlight illuminates some tall grass heads against the dark pool of the irrigation ditch, no longer flowing, near my house. Leafless trees and osiers line the far bank.
A few coneflowers still blooming in the yard. Dark red centers surrounded by yellow slender petals.
A pond dotted by brown bunches of reeds. Trees stand bare in the distance. Clouds fill the blue sky.
The strawberry plants, with their triplets of fringed leaves, display fall colors—some still dark green, some lighter green, some yellow, some coral orange.

An irrigation ditch reflects gray skies, running from center to the distant right. A couple of tall trees in the near distance shed yellow leaves. A few bare trees in the background. A shrub still holds its green leaves, and the grasses too are still green.

Aurora seen tonight from my back porch, edge of town in Montana. Growing up here, such things were never witnessed. What is different these days to make it so visible so far south?

A Martha Washington geranium is turning several fall colors - greens, reds, and browns. The pointed leaves make for interesting interplay.
Some yellow leaves from a shrub serve as backdrop to blackened seed clusters that developed from the white flowers of summer.
Pink gaura blossoms have endured nearly to November. Red stalks give way to delicate pink flowers. Green grass littered with leaves are the backdrop.
From the back yard, the Beartooth mountains are visible under gray overcast. Red leaves from vines, yellow and green osiers and small trees color the foreground.

You ever discover a new-to-you #Dylan song that blows you away? Stumbled (back?) upon Caribbean Wind on Biograph, then found out there are like 4 versions of this song. How could I have slept on something this great?

“Burned White House,” watercolor by George Munger, c 1814-1815.
The White House was partially burned by British troops during the war of 1812.
The building still stands, but windows were destroyed by the heat, and soot marks appear above each window cavity.
The White House survived an attempt to burn it by British troops during the war of 1812.
But it appears this elegant classical structure will not survive Trump intact.

Tall snow-capped mountains in distance. Lake waters to right. Green tree covered hills leading down to waters edge. Foreground has a tall dead evergreen to right and two pines to right. Yellow leaves on bushes.

A late-blooming peach rose is open wide. Next to its deep green leaves, a dark coral bud preps for a last hurrah to the season.
A closeup of the rosebud in blushing peach.
A few bright red and yellow maples line up behind the old train depot. A fancy old-time light post stands in between the trees. In the background, some train cars and the Phillips 66 refinery.

A river sparkles in the light as it rounds a corner rimmed on one side by tall canyon walls. Rolling hills in the distance seem to spill down into the river. In the river valley, autumn colors surround a few stands of evergreen and shrub. From a picture taken this weekend at the Teton River in Northern Montana.

Watercolor painting of a side of a 1 story brick school with a row of square windows. The foreground is green grass. The view is framed by two large trees, maybe maples or elms, just beginning to show some autumn color. A bright blue sky with a single large puffy cloud overhangs the scene.

Watercolor of a ditch divided into three channels by a cement gate with a rusty iron rail and bridge. The water falls through the gates. A grassy slope in the foreground and trees in the distance. Blue skies and clouds in the upper third partly obscured by the distant trees.
