Somewhere past hour 4, I asked @ruinista.bsky.social if she would like to come to a New Year's Eve party (3 days from then), couching it with "the host has a fire grille in the kitchen and roasts pheasant" and she said yes and our first kiss was in the first minute of January 1, 2017.

You also have to be registered to vote and be in your correct polling place and (if a primary) be registered to a given party. Please sdont make it sound like one can show up anywhere, flash some ID, and be waved in. Being registered is what matters to voting access, more than which ID to have.

I went to a different school for 10th grade and the most famous person from there is probably Conan O'Brien, so there's a gamut.

Bluesky post by Senator Schumer on Feb 9 that reads in full
"Our DHS reform demands are exceedingly reasonable.
We're asking ICE to do nothing more than follow the standards that the vast majority of law enforcement agencies already follow.
Republicans, the ball is in your court. The clock is ticking."
"Republicans, the ball is in your court" tells you everything you need to know about Schumer's passive approach to negotiation, not to mention his failure to ever learn that the GOP has no interest whatsoever in cooperation.

Screenshot of an X.com post by Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) quoting Rep. Adam Schiff criticizing the SAVE Act, saying Republicans have created distrust in elections by making claims of nonexistent fraud and are now using that distrust to justify voter suppression. Below is a TV still from ABCβs This Week showing Schiff speaking remotely with a host seated at a desk.
That is precisely what the GOP game plan is.

Just a quick update from the Twin Cities. (Please forgive the unsolicited message). THINGS ARE NOT BETTER IN MINNEAPOLIS. The media is mostly moving on, Trump is focused on other stuff, BUT NOTHING HAS CHANGED ON THE GROUND. More than 2,000 DHS thugs continue to roam the streets, abducting people 24/7, assaulting legal observers with impunity, and routinely denying 1st, 4th, and 5th amendment rights. Drones and helicopters are overhead every day. Hundreds and hundreds of terrified families have not left their homes since mid-December ... relying on the community to bring them food and help with rent and other necessities. (Those people are NOT violent drug cartel sex offending murderers, as DHS would tell you. Most are legal residents or citizens.) If anything, things have just become more stressful and intractable (think trench warfare as a suitable metaphor): The resistance is better organized and numerous, but DHS has become more clever and better at disguise... and the county sheriff's office is increasingly supporting them . Do not let anyone tell you that Homans (the new person in charge of the occupation) is making anything better. Do not let anyone tell you that 700 ICE agents leaving the city has made much of a difference; the remaining force (again, ~2,000) is still larger than the entire city's police force (which is legally unable to do anything). Please call your congressional reps ... especially if there is any chance the administration might listen to them.
A desperate plea sent to me by a Minneapolis resident who's been on the front lines since the beginning of the ICE occupation:

Miracle (2004) with Sam Potts β DESIGNERS ON FILM
Sam Potts talks about his comfort movie, Miracle starring Kurt Russell and Patricia Clarkson. Based on real life events, Miracle tells the story of the American hockey team and the 1980 Olympics...
I don't usually (ie, never) talk on podcasts, but when I do, it's about Miracle. Easily in the top 3 best sports movies (with Rudy and Breaking Away of course), but did you know there are parallels between hockey and graphic design? Thanks to Jason Tselentis for inviting me on. Happy Olympics y'all!
