I’m not what folks tend to describe as a pacifist myself. But I’ve slowed down a bit w/ age, so have likewise become a tad more Machiavellian than John Wickian in my resistance methods. 😎
I’m not risk averse, I’m risk-assessment pragmatic. :)
So far my courage has held & I’ve put myself between threats & the people being threatened when needed, but there’s no need to provoke violence. At the point that becomes the appropriate technique, we’ll be living in a whole different world.
1. My dogs greeting me upon returning home.
2. My cat purring on my chest while I nap.
3. My wife, kids, & in-laws.
Also, many family and friends who ride along with me aren’t of my… demographic.
We may have studied the tactics of different white supremacist groups.
Debating the odds of that is a waste of time regardless. Driving around w/ that on a car is performative antagonism, not effective strategy.
My “Unapologetically Anti-Fascist” shirts actually lead to conversations & solidarity.
Tactically it’s asking to come back to a vehicle with slashed tires/broken windows or, presumably worse, to get shot at a stoplight.
I’m not afraid of standing for my values, or even dying for them, but not keen on dying by inviting an ambush. There are better ways to resist bigots & fascists.

They rushed to a statement to try & control a narrative over which control was already lost.
A thing can be ruled out early as part of the process.
That said, this Admin has proven willing both to lie & rush to failure, so regardless, their statement is suspect.
Odds are you & I are on the same side. It would be counter productive to turn on each other over this, so:

The difficulty isn’t that he’ll do everything he says he’ll do. His say-do gap is objectively yuge.
The difficulty, compounded by his ignorance, narcissism, pathological lying, & piscine intellect, is that he’s WILLING to do anything he says he’ll do & so far nobody has been willing to stop him.
Their ignorance & incompetence give me a faint light of hope.
Tends to be helpful when they deliberately craft a public record that will serve well as evidence.

If only there were some extensive experience & documentation of “Once we kill/detain their leaders, the people will rise up” not working that might have informed decision-making…

What he means is, they’ll start scooping up anyone who “looks Iranian” (I know, but he doesn’t know what a Perian is), so *checks historic WWII notes* we’d best start helping friends plan to cover their mortgages & protect their property while they’re in the camps.
