On this Juneteenth, remember: slavery was once legal. Harboring a fugitive enslaved person? Illegal. Black freedom? Illegal. “Illegal is illegal” has always been used to defend injustice.

Legality ≠ morality. Justice calls us higher.

At least 1 NC Social Security office saved from closing. What about the other 3? DOGE removed three of North Carolina’s four Social Security offices that were set to close from its list of lease terminations. Rep. Chuck Edwards says at least one office is now set to remain open.

“Many do not have transportation or they are homebound or in the hospital and don’t have access or simply don’t know how to use the internet... What happens to them? What happens to the person who can’t do it online and now their local office has closed?”
