Costco's magazine has an article on "Expert tips to declutter your home". I mean, I haven't been a Costco member for 15 years, and it took nearly that long to declutter e.g. the 100ft spool of ribbon, etc. You have less to declutter if you actually have a shot at using things up.

One of the things stuck in my head is Michael Pollan, in his master class on eating, talking about snacking. He said something like "I like eating almonds, so I only keep walnuts, which I don't like as much, around." And it makes me sad to think of the life of self-almond-denial.
