Drei spannende Tage mit vielen interessanten Vorträgen und guten Gesprächen auf der Konferenz @bcflconference.bsky.social in der Wiener Library und Birkbeck, University of London sowie einem Abendempfang in der Deutschen Botschaft, bei dem ich Chair sein durfte, liegen hinter mir.

In one our final sessions of the day featuring Professor Natalia Aleksiun, Professor Lisa Peschel, Professor Sara Sewell, and Professor Anna Shternshis on emotions in postwar ego-documents. The room is packed and standing room only! We are in for an incredibly engaging last panel.

Good morning, day two of Beyond Camps! Another day full of groundbreaking new research in the field. To start the morning, currently in a panel on “Memory, testimony, and remembrance” hearing from Alisa Miller of Vilnius University on collective memory of the Kovno Ghetto.

Hearing now from Oxford University DPhil student Leah Schreiber on Hasidic revival in the displaced person camps, an important and necessary exploration of Jewish religious life in the aftermath of the Holocaust.

Just heard a very interesting paper on building a history of pink triangle prisoners from the information held by the @arolsenarchives.bsky.social by Royal Holloway PhD Student Lewis Champion, a part of a larger (packed!) panel on the role of digital humanities and AI in Holocaust research!
