Text: These are fears that every LGBTQ kid faces in the United States. To remove books that share a message of love and acceptance tells these kids that their fears are founded, that they are not safe or valued. This is more harmful to children than access to reading could ever be, as statistics for suicide amongst LGBTQ youth can attest.

text: Those of us who survive to adulthood learn that being gay, trans, or any member of the LGBTQ community is not a choice to be condemned, but a wonderful part of yourself to be celebrated.

text: My heart hurts for the kids who need books like JO, who need books that show them that it’s okay to be different, that they are not alone.

This also reminded me ’tis the season for a Gremlins night 💚

For me it’s filmmaking that goes all out (why I also rewatch Gremlins1+2 a lot). Both practically, like the bookcase dominoes, and VFX-wise for its time; and in the combo of it, like mocap skeleton gang fight.

But if I personally keep it 100%… Brendan Fraser is just that undeniable.

You can't avoid them by rolling over and doing nothing because a white supremacist sees being a "normie" as being opposition. You can't even just be white and mind your business anymore. They've run out of adversaries yet need to cry about being victims. Got everyone else fired. No more DEI crutch.

I have no idea if this creator has a film background, but if not, they have an incredible eye for composition. This, and their other works, would actually be a great teaching tool for an editing/boarding/cinematography class. Clever camera angles, strong posing, and easy to follow despite quick cuts

One of Britain’s most senior police officers has launched an angry tirade against Extinction Rebellion protesters going “all floppy” when they get arrested. Sir Stephen House, the deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan police, said the tactic of going limp was a “flipping nuisance” as it required extra officers to drag protesters away. House told a London assembly police and crime committee hearing: “We have asked them to stop being floppy. And that might seem like a silly thing to say, but when we arrest them and pick them up, they go all floppy, which is why you see four or five officers carrying them away. It’s a complete waste of officers’ time, and a complete pain in the neck.” Extinction Rebellion: how successful were the latest protests? Read more House also expressed annoyance at how the tactic made the police look heavy-handed. He said: “The problem with them going floppy and four offices carrying them away [is that it] looks to the general public like police are overreacting here. We’re not making them go floppy. They’re just sort of being a nuisance.”

This gets progressively funnier with every use of the term "floppy".

I don't find it coincidental that Al hawkers start with attempting to artificially replace a woman actor instead of a man. Men aren't viewed as products (=resented for exhibiting agency) to the same extent, so starting with a male Al actor presentation would probably be viewed even more negatively
