but ultimately it’s a cheap shot bc it’s not merely earnestness, is intentionally weaponised earnestness. you can’t just write an essay in which you challenge the reader not to look for holes in ur arguments because you’ve characterised the impulse to do so as making them a bunch of hipster meanies
