By all means, check out the demo! It gives you a tutorial and I think lets you take the starter fleet about a quarter of the way througg a run. Plenty of replayability built in.

Also, yeah, you're always gonna be hungry for resources as your small fleet needs constant attention and there are 3 overarching factions in your fleet that have competing interests.

Its definitely trying to fit itself in an rpg/roguelite niche, in stark contrast to BSG Deadlock with was just an out-and-out strategy game (which sadly can't even be bought anymore for what I assume are licensing reasons).

Its harkens to FTL in the sense that you're managing a "Gunstar" gathering civilian ships along the way to meet up with the Galactica at the end of a run through several sectors.

Like Crying Suns, you can start each run with a different flagship and starter civilian ship(s).

Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes has a demo out and *w o w* does it get the "oh gods we need to jump RIGHT NOW" feeling from the show *just* right.

If you like FTL or Crying Suns I think the demo is worth a try.

The Soldiers table was a bunch of great characters on a straightforward revenge quest, but *damn* the Seekers table just gets that extra level of OOMPH that comes with having the survivors of the Tachonis attack processing their trauma.

Lady Aranessa is also a great GMPC.
