An ornate ogre shaped arched stone doorway frames a bright blue painted wooden door in two parts with studded woodwork detail and a nice solid metal probably bespoke ring door handle on the right hand side. Probably a fairly modern feature though I am not sure and happy to be corrected.

St Monan’s Church is still a place of worship and a valued community resource, and a local community group have formed to try to buy the church and hall in the great Church of Scotland properties sell-off caused by falling congregations and upkeep costs.

This doorway at St Monan’s Church in the East Neuk of Fife 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 caught my eye.

St Monan’s has 9thC origins, the extant church founded 14thC by David II after a visit to St Monan’s shrine healed arrow wounds received at the Battle of Neville Cross.

For sale by Church of Scotland!
