This handwritten recipe for “corn balls” dates from 14 July 1939, just a few months after the end of the Civil War. Between 2006 and 2012, the pioneering “Names and Voices” project used a refined historical methodology to systematically collect the names of the victims of the violence and persecution in Galicia after 20 July 1936 and put them in an extensive and open data base.
El proyecto “Nomes e Voces” (2006-2012) fue pionero en recoger de forma sistemática y con una depurada metodología histórica, las víctimas de la violencia y persecuciones iniciadas en Galicia a partir del 20 de julio de 1936, en una extensa y abierta base de datos.
El 15 de octubre de 1936, nueve hombres fueron “paseados” en Baiona en la curva de Baredo carretera de Pontevedra a Camposancos donde son torturados y finalmente asesinados. A partir de entonces este espacio pasa a ser conocido como A Volta dos Nove un reconocido espacio de memoria desde el año 2005
On 15 October 1936, nine men were “taken for a ride” in Baiona (al Miñor), at the Baredo curve on the highway between Pontevedra and Camposancos they were tortured and, ultimately, killed. The place that was known from then on as the Curve of the Nine became a recognized site of memory in 2005.
