There's absolutely nothing to be gained in tinkering around the margins. We're not going to make that stuff better - we're not going to make Palantir a bit less evil by making sure the information governance works. We need different kinds of technologies, made by different kinds of people.

This sounds excellent and necessary. Simi and Rachel gave a preview of their work at our @camri.bsky.social seminars last year, as did their keynote @rfbramall.bsky.social. Intrigued to find out what extensions and connections are being forged through this next step.

Also "mergers" is very good.

It’s been a pleasure working on this new piece for the LSE impact blog - in this we explore ‘neurodiversity’ tagged REF Impact Case Studies from 2014 and 2021 and think about what they mean for REF 2029’s emphasise on equality, diversity and inclusion.

Another day, another scare story…

Once again research from a Wealth Management firm—dutifully amplified by national newspapers— is encouraging lower taxes on the rich.

Here’s 3 reasons why the in‑front‑of‑the‑paywall headline & synopsis (yet again) don’t match reality.

Someone welding is the background to this text overlay that reads making or taking? public attitudes to wealth creation and extraction

We've released new polling this morning on wealth creation which sends a clear message to policymakers:

Back Britain’s genuine wealth creators - and take on the extractive practices draining our communities.

Technology discourse is so unhinged at the moment. Just zooming out, beyond specifics, the fact that there are multiple movements to "protect" kids from smartphones at the same time as there is increased pressure to AI everything all the time is bananas

The pace at which US wealth concentration is rising is simply staggering

The concentration of AI wealth into the hands of a few tech barons + plutocratic capture ==> unchartered territory

Reeves urged to reassure MPs over public finances amid £6bn-a-year Send costs

Image is of Rachel Reeves In 2020, the year Sir Jim Ratcliffe moved his huge fortune to Monaco, migrants in the United Kingdom made tax contributions estimated to be worth around £20bn. Sir Jim, by jetting off to a tax haven on the French Riviera, saved himself an estimated £4bn. It took some brass neck for the expat owner of Ineos and co-owner of Manchester United football club to lecture the country, using inflammatory and offensive language, on the perils of immigration

stop trying to make another folk devil, we know the real problem here

It’ll take more than a leadership change for Lab to begin rectifying this. They’d need to remove most of a generation, abandon a whole concept of politics they signed up to 30 years ago & open up an inclusive & pluralist politics that goes beyond parties.

Obviously that that won’t happen (5/)
