There's absolutely nothing to be gained in tinkering around the margins. We're not going to make that stuff better - we're not going to make Palantir a bit less evil by making sure the information governance works. We need different kinds of technologies, made by different kinds of people.
Lovely to see this - I worked there after you, before/after the move to the wash houses
This is next week – we're looking forward to it!

This sounds excellent and necessary. Simi and Rachel gave a preview of their work at our @camri.bsky.social seminars last year, as did their keynote @rfbramall.bsky.social. Intrigued to find out what extensions and connections are being forged through this next step.
Also "mergers" is very good.
Thanks Toby. I’m really looking forward to this.
It’s been a pleasure working on this new piece for the LSE impact blog - in this we explore ‘neurodiversity’ tagged REF Impact Case Studies from 2014 and 2021 and think about what they mean for REF 2029’s emphasise on equality, diversity and inclusion.
Five years of the Feminist Futures Programme! Thank you so much to everybody @autonomy-institute.bsky.social for half a decade of hard work. Lots coming up in 2026, too.

Another day, another scare story…
Once again research from a Wealth Management firm—dutifully amplified by national newspapers— is encouraging lower taxes on the rich.
Here’s 3 reasons why the in‑front‑of‑the‑paywall headline & synopsis (yet again) don’t match reality.

Absolute shitshow. Lose-lose situation. No winners here.
It's been nearly 6 years and I'm still jealous of the furlough. My sourdough skills are years behind where they could have been.
If you publish with us and you want us to feature your article or special issue there we’re taking pitches again…
Our slightly exhausted blog has woken up and is now updating www.journalofculturaleconomy.org
Friends! Please join me in London or online for my inaugural lecture in April. There will be wine and nibbles! You can heckle me from the back row! I've already promised some raunchy Zed from Zardoz references - other indecent shout-out requests may be considered. Booking via QR code.
We've released new polling this morning on wealth creation which sends a clear message to policymakers:
Back Britain’s genuine wealth creators - and take on the extractive practices draining our communities.

Technology discourse is so unhinged at the moment. Just zooming out, beyond specifics, the fact that there are multiple movements to "protect" kids from smartphones at the same time as there is increased pressure to AI everything all the time is bananas
Out today @intellectbooks.bsky.social: 'Reconstructing the American Dream: Life Inside the Tiny House Nation' w/Ella Harris, Mel Nowicki & Cian Oba-Smith. Through photographic and ethnographic accounts of life in Texas tiny home communities, we examine the politics of 'going tiny' in the US today.
Wie verändern sich Vorstellungen, Ideale und Praktiken von Umverteilung durch digitale Plattformen? Einladung zur Projektpräsentation (online)!
The pace at which US wealth concentration is rising is simply staggering
The concentration of AI wealth into the hands of a few tech barons + plutocratic capture ==> unchartered territory
Brilliant, indispensable, chilling from

This whole thing stinks.
Please take action, sign & share.

stop trying to make another folk devil, we know the real problem here
“…subscription’s possible role in postcapitalist economic organization.”
The King's Fund are launching a new project about how we can reimagine the welfare state to ensure good health for everyone.
If you're interested in thinking through what that might mean in practice, please get in touch with us!
It’ll take more than a leadership change for Lab to begin rectifying this. They’d need to remove most of a generation, abandon a whole concept of politics they signed up to 30 years ago & open up an inclusive & pluralist politics that goes beyond parties.
Obviously that that won’t happen (5/)
A wonderful review essay by @liamstanley.bsky.social that we recently published in @newformations.bsky.social
What happened when we shared findings from the Redistributive Imaginaries project with people working in community organising, digital innovation, tax justice, social policy + local government?
