The State Government Initiative & the State Energy & Environmental Impact Center are hosting: State Healthy Environment and Energy Lawyering. Register here: bit.ly/statelawyeringevent. Thursday, March 12, 1:10-2:15 PM, Vanderbilt Hall Room 214, Lunch provided. Everyone deserves to breathe clean air, drink clean water, and thrive on clean soil, but there is a polarized debate about how we achieve a healthy and safe environment for all. States are on the front lines of building energy resources, shifting buildings and transportation to new sources of power, and creating comprehensive policies to create a healthier future. Join us to learn first-hand about what states are doing to fill the gap being left by the federal government, as well as about career paths that go through state government. Panelists: Jamie Van Nostrand, Policy Director at the Future of Heat Initiative; former Chair Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities. John Rousakis, Partner at Freshfields US LLP; former General Counsel at the New York City Department of Environmental Protection & counsel to the chair of the Assembly Committee on Environmental Conservation. Sarah Kam, Staff Attorney at the State Energy and Environmental Impact Center; former Assistant Attorney General at the NY Attorney General’s Office. Terri Gerstein, Director of the NYU Wagner Labor Initiative, at NYU’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service; former Bureau Chief of the Labor Bureau at the NY Attorney General’s Office. Moderator: Bethany Davis Noll, Executive Director at the State Energy & Environmental Impact Center; former Assistant Solicitor General at the NY Attorney General’s Office.

@ NYU Law students, ever thought about a state government career in environment & energy? This is your sign! Join us on March 12 to learn first-hand about the role of states in environmental protection & career paths that go through state government.
