Between storms Éowyn and Herminia, we give you The Storm Maiden herself.

The Storm Maiden (1851) is likely a depiction of the mythological Ariadne marooned on the island of Naxos. This beautiful watercolour is by Irish artist Daniel Maclise, who was born in Cork #onthisday in 1806.

Black and white studio photo of a longhaired white cat sitting up on a small table draped with brocade fabric. The cat has a very large ruffly bow made of dark fabric attached to the right side of its collar.

Although I absolutely adore making mead as a hobby, it’s not exactly something you can tip away at on a daily basis. Anyone have any tips on getting into candle making/cross stitch/embroidary?

Love this carpet design by Mainie Jellett featured in Following Threads @crawfordartgallery.bsky.social. Also love that she met Eileen Gray in Paris and that a whole network of modernist Irishwomen had Jellett at its centre.
