I'm proud to join 280 state lawmakers in urging congress not to pass any AI preemption laws.

As AI content become easier to create & spread, states will play an important role in curtailing the dangers. And we neither need nor want the federal government getting in the way of novel policy solutions

Just wrapped up a productive week in the Law & Justice Interim Committee, where I serve as vice-chair.

We spent the week looking at ways to improve our Youth Court laws, as well as ways to help police departments weed out job applicants with disqualifying misconduct in their previous police work.

This Trans Day of Remembrance, my heart hurts thinking of all the people we couldn't carry through to the other side of this moment in history.

Amidst all the fighting we've done for our community, amidst the unshakeable belief that we will win in the end, grief still takes hold.

I don’t know how many times I’ve watched this video.

I don’t know how we’ve gotten to the point where men in full balaclavas can abduct daycare teachers while they’re watching children.

But I do know that this isn’t sustainable. Abolish ICE. There is no way to reform this.

So there were some AI-generated videos that purported to show Black women ranting about SNAP benefits, and... Fox News is reporting on this like these are real people. They're not! They're AI!

It was signed into law back in May, and goes into effect January 1, 2026

Fun fact: We passed a bill in Montana that makes this kind of attack ad illegal.

HB 513 is a bill that gives individuals the rights to their likeness and allows you to sue anyone who creates digital fabrications of your likeness.

Proud to have cast my vote for Daniel Carlino for Ward 3 in Missoula City Council!

This is probably the most important race in the city, as it is between someone actually on the left (Carlino) and a landlord/house-flipper masquerading as a progressive so she can protect her landlord money (Savage)

I don't think we can EXPECT people to clock AI, but we should definitely be educating folks on how to do so.

Also, we passed some AI regulations in Montana this year (ability to sue over AI-generated imitations of your likeness).

But yeah, I'm planning on bringing more regulations next session.

I noticed all these on my first watch through, except the timestamp. I then looked online, found the uncropped version with the additional error.

Also, generally: be wary of videos that look like porch cam or body cam footage. People are cropping horizontal SORA videos to remove the AI watermark.

- The candies bleed into one another
- Table leg orientation doesn't match (& doesn't touch the ground)
- one frame light flare (high focus) in an out of focus background
- light from monster doesn't reflect properly

Casual reminder that this video is AI-generated.

Media literacy is going to have to start including ways to recognize artificial intelligence, as well as ways to identify & source factual material.

I’m horrified by Trump’s order to send 300 National Guard troops to Chicago. We’re only nine months into a four year term and already the president is trying to invade an American city. If you’re in the Guard, you can and should refuse these orders.

As a trans woman who is proudly anti-fascist, I'm just wondering if Trump designating me a terrorist TWICE cancels out?

i have to say, as a trans journalist who has covered the "trans debate" for about a decade now, there is no daylight between how the trump administration and conservatives lie about tylenol and autism and how they've lied about youth trans care.
