I told Erin that I feel the same way I did after our wedding: like we had just completed something profound & symbolic, but also something that signifies the start of our marriage together.

So yeah, I'm sad the honeymoon is over (not ready to get back to work). But I'm also overflowing with love.

Day 21 of our Honeymoon:

Erin & I watched the sunrise over the Mediterranean, then caught a 10-hour flight stateside.

Now to start what we're jokingly calling our "Half-Moon." We'll be working from the road for a few weeks, traveling w/ our son for his summer break, visiting friends and family.

Day 20 of our honeymoon:

@erininthemorning.com & I spent the last full day of our honeymoon in love & bliss.

We got a couple's massage in the morning, napped, read, then visited Nice for a stroll. Then we closed off the night w/ dinner on a cliff face as fireworks went off over the Mediterranean.

Day 19 of our honeymoon:

This was the quietest day yet. We went to a beach club & relaxed all day. Erin read her book (Stormlight Archives), and I "tanned" (an impossibly difficult task for my marshmallow self).

We swam in the ocean a bit too, following around fish. Then, a quiet rooftop dinner.

Honestly, they remind me of oysters. Except instead of tasting a little like the sea, they taste a little like a garden. But they're meaty like oysters.

Day 18 of our honeymoon:

We drove from Cassis to Cannes, where we swam at a beach for a few hours before exploring town and grabbing the Frenchest dinner ever—escargot, fatty oysters, & dover sole.

Also, Erin finally gave up on France's lack of spicy food and brought her own hot sauce to dinner 😅

Our D&D group is playing Daggerheart while we're away, and I miss them so much.

I literally talk about TTRPGs with Erin every day over dinner. 😅

Day 17 of our honeymoon:

Today we hiked the calanques outside of Cassis, and omg that was the coolest experiences ever.

A deeply challenging hike up & over some very Arizona/SoCal-type terrain, which led us to a deep inlet on the Mediterranean.

We swam, tanned, and dove with some little fish 🐟

Only when the restaurant tries to drown you in wine 😅

Thanks! I've literally gotten compliments on it throughout the entire honeymoon! And there's a special joy in having chic French ladies compliment my purse—makes me feel way more fashionable than I am 😅

Meanwhile, the chef is trying to kill me with the world's largest, most delicious vat of bouillabase. 😵

Day 16 of our honeymoon:

Arles: from Ligurians to Phoenicians to Greeks to the Romans to French, the city was steeped in so much history. Erin & I spend the day walking between Roman & medieval architecture, exploring paths that monks & Vincent Van Gogh shared.

We easily could've spent a week here

Yes! We just walked through Cassis last night and this morning!

Day 15 of our Honeymoon:

We continued south for a day trip to Marseille. From amazing museums to the old port to the young French queers shouting "Free Palestine" with me—I fell in love w/ Marseille!

Afterward, we settled into our hotel near Cassis, ate food, and prepped for tomorrow's adventures.

Amazing. It was Flathead Lake and Bighorn Canyon for me growing up. And some [redacted] shenanigans when I was at college at the University of Washington.

I loved that so much! It looked scary, but I felt so safe in there.

It was like slightly chilly pool water. Deeply refreshing, but i wouldn't want to swim if it wasn't hot out.

Also if you dove down, it got much colder just a few feet below the surface, which made cliff jumping a really fun experience.

I don't know why jumping into the water from a cliff is so fun, but I always love it.

And a fun little Zooey fact is that back in college, cliff jumping (& bridge jumping) was how I conquered my fear of heights 😤

Also, bluesky is really doing me dirty on the picture uploads. It's straight up uploading pictures that I didn't select 🫠

Thankfully they've been pretty innocuous photos so far 😅

Day 14 of our honeymoon:

We rented a paddle boat & took it into the river at the Gorges du Verdon.

The canyon was stunning, and there were cliffs to jump from! Erin & I swam/ jumped for hours. It was so fun! 😭

That evening, we walked Moustiers-Saint-Marie and had dinner overlooking a waterfall.

We did not, unfortunately! It's passing through some of the places we've visited, but we've always been a few days early.

It'd be cool to see, but neither Erin nor I are big enough fans to change our itinerary to go watch it.

Day 13 of our honeymoon:

Off to a new Provence! We left Briancion & headed towards Provence-Alpes-Côte-D'Azur.

We drove through the beautiful Route des Grande Alpes, and then through the equally beautiful (though terrifying) Col d'Allos.

Now to spend the next couple days in the Gorges du Verdon 🥰

Oh and I did some work on my D&D world (finished much of the details of the thieves' guild)

Day 12 of our honeymoon:

We had a quiet day for real today. We went to the hot springs, where we also got to do a 3-part Calderium, Tepidarium, and Frigidarium experience. My skin has felt amazing all day, I loved it.

After that, it was just 2 delicious meals and some much needed quiet time. 🥰

That photo with the guy biking towards the mountain might just be my favorite photo you've ever taken.

Day 11 of our honeymoon:

Our planned "quiet day" quickly turned to adventure.

We did some exploring of Briançon's inner city, then went to the Parc Ecrins for an 8km hike to an Alpine Lake.

Then we ended the night at a beautiful little restaurant where we chatted with the owner (in French, yay!)
