If you haven't already seen the excellent video by Network News about the DLR extension to Thamesmead I recommend you watch it. Not just because I help supply some of the footage but because it is a great video explaining what is happening.

Ahead of the Budget next week, the government is preparing to give the DLR Extension to Thamesmead the Green light, so in this video we'll break down exactly what's being proposed:

This time I'm coming to you from the opening of Beaulieu Park Station (yes I know my video is very late) - a fantastic new station which proves it IS possible to create genuinely nice stations which aren't just cookie-cutter!
Do check it out: youtu.be/sIUMRCd5Ok8

Still on the Tees Valley Line, I'm exploring the Locomotion museum at Shildon, get to take a look at the Inspiration train and then find myself at the world's oldest station!
Oh, and we see some familiar faces!

Absolutely loved watching Geoff's video from the celebrations up in Darlington, it brought back so many memories of what was truly tremendous weekend!
Do check it out!

08.11.2025 17:49 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That's a point. Aix-en-Provence TGV is also server by Renfe and Trenitalia. Do they still allow bookings for the short hop to/from Marseille?
Obviously the lower frequencies are a problem, but it could provide a compromise whilst SNCF gets their act together?
It sounds kinda similar to how LNER is to stop selling London - Stevenage tickets in order to force people to use Thameslink/Great Northern instead.
The difference is that the alternative *does* exist, whilst the Aix TGV station is nowhere near the Aix regional station!
It's giving Regional Railways
02.11.2025 11:26 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Snippet from Real Time Trains showing the Azuma was one minute up from Fletton Junction onwards, and arrived at Huntington 3 minutes after it was originally due to pass.
Whatever else comes out once the attack on the ECML train last night, this alone is a credit to the train crew, driver, and signalling team.
Huntingdon was the first possible stop. In a highly stressful situation and improvising a plan the train lost just 3 minutes vs line speed to get there.
Woah that looks weird! I thought it was in the old BR Regional Railways livery at first glance!

Telegraph headline - Councils urged to scrap 4-day week
Sometimes it seems like this government is actively seeking ways to be unpopular.
South Cambridgeshireβs 4-day week:
- Saves them Β£370,000 a year
- Improves productivity in key areas
- Boosts health and wellbeing of staff
And yet they seek to undermine it by leaking letters to the Telegraph.

In the same way that you can request to have seats reserved in the quiet zone, if you know you're going to be making phone calls or chatting to your friends, you should be able to request to NOT be in the quiet zone! (2/2)
23.10.2025 21:49 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I think part of the problem is that people who don't necessarily want to be in the quiet zone get automatically put there when they book there tickets. (1/2)

Today, Eurostar has confirmed it is ordering a new fleet of high speed double-decker trains, but will they actually make it through to London?

19.10.2025 10:49 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0You're absolutely spot on that we need both, but considering the plans for NPR don't even exist yet, surely it make sense to crack on with constructing HS2 in the meantime (rather than doing nothing) especially since so much of the infrastructure is shared e.g. through Manchester?
