Not only that - his inquiry to the BBC was the only reason they didn't erase the master tapes after five years, as was policy.

Whenever the greatest American band convo rolls around people say stuff like the dead or whatever but it seems clear to me that the only convo is whether it’s the Isley Bros or Parliament-Funkadelic

THE MAGAZINE RACK

I normally don't share my little UI experiments, but everyone's trapped in a blizzard, so here's the Internet Archive's magazine rack inside an experimental alternative interface. Enjoy reading and discovering titles and issues.

Talbot Tagora and Sex Vid @ Old School Pizzeria in Olympia, WA December 2008 YouTube video by Elizabeth Skadden

Two great underrated WA state bands on the same bill at an Olympia Pizzaria, Dec. 2008.

Talbot Tagora were a weirdo Seattle trio that should have been talked in the same breath as Thinking Fellers, rRope or Erase Errata.

And Sex Vid were a warped Seattle/Olympia/Austin hardcore band.

light skinned Black woman with natural hair parted down the middle (me!) wearing gold earrings and an orange-red dress, holding a small paperback book with a mint green-blue cover and a variety of vintage + antique photos

I am beyond excited (and nervous!) to announce that my first book, "The House Archives Built and Other Thoughts on Black Archival Possibilities" is available for sale!

This series of essay includes reworked talks, new reflections, and a lot of my heart

"It follows a story revolving around a computer employee's fantasy where, as he visits Carey's home and fixes her computer, he enters a fantasy in which the pair perform several activities together, all while Carey shows off her figure in several revealing outfits." #WikipediaSentences

the parent of a trans kid in missouri begged the new york times not to use an audio clip in The Protocol podcast of a verbal confrontation with professional transphobe Jamie Reed out of fear of safety for her kid and NYT management refused her request.

Patrick Healy Joins the Newsroom Masthead | The New York Times Company

Patrick Healey, the guy behind the NYT's "but her emails" coverage and the Opinion section's inane, right-leaning citizen panels is now a "masthead editor" in charge of "standards and trust" for the NYT newsroom. This is not good. This does not build trust. www.nytco.com/press/patric...

it’s absurd that NYT forced him to delete these skeets, which … convey the factual information that Zohran Mamdani is, in fact, a man of South Asian descent who was born and raised in Africa, and that the pseudonymous source of the hacked material is a white supremacist eugenicist.

"The Hagley Digital Archives is currently offline due to a sustained bot attack" begins a message from the archive, explaining that AI is using bots to train machine learning learning models.

Just went looking for something at the excellent Hagley Digital Archives, and was greeted by the message below.

They're being overrun by bots, as "AI systems increasingly target sites like ours to train machine learning models."

The web is being murdered. So aggravating.

Parchment manuscripts, written with Latin characters in ancient Aramaic, spoken by Jews in the time of Christ, found in Pompeii, have been translated. They contain slighting references to early Christians. It is hard for prosperous Christians of 1927 to realize that ancient prosperity looked upon early Christians as we look upon the Russian bolsheviki.

The Secrets of Physique Magazines The mid-century publications didn’t need to announce themselves as gay, even if they had been able to. Their readers understood the necessity of balancing discretion and seduction.
