World condemnations mount over Israeli plans to take Gaza City; UN Security Council to meet Source in forum says extraordinary session requested by several members after decision, which UN chief assails for 'deepening the already catastrophic consequences' for Gazans

The UN Security Council will meet today in an Energency Session to discuss Israel’s plan to occupy Gaza. Citizens of the 15 members of the Security Council (se comment) need to increase pressure on their governments to call for a UN Peacekeeping mission.

Carney condemns Israel's plan to take over Gaza City | CBC News Prime Minister Mark Carney on Friday joined U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer and other world leaders in criticizing Israel's plan to take over Gaza City.

Canada is on the right side of history in condemning the Israeli government plan to occupy Gaza and worsen the humanitarian crisis. Sternly worded statements are ineffective. Canada must do what we do best and influence the UN to call for a Peacekeeping mission in Gaza.

Another Christian denomination, the United Church of Canada, has issued an apology to the LGBTQ+ community for past wrongs and a commitment to a path forward of inclusion. I pray that all denominations complete this important work led by the Holy Spirit.

Israeli approval of the plan to occupy Gaza will lead to decades more of violence. This is the exact type of conflict the UN was created to stop. The UN Security Council needs to make a clear call for a UN Peacekeeping mission in Gaza.

Canadian Forces airdrop humanitarian aid into Gaza for the first time | CBC News The Canadian Armed Forces made their first humanitarian airdrop over Gaza on Monday using their own aircraft — delivering 9,800 kilograms of aid to Palestinians, according to Global Affairs Canada.

“It’s the method of last resort” but that’s where we are now. Canada has put pressure on Israel to enable air drops of food. But pressure needs to continue to allow free flow of humanitarian aid on the ground. Canada & UN should be there as peace makers & peace keepers.

I don’t have that answer yet but with a solid foundation and a renewed purpose, and input from some trusted friends and mentors, I can now face that question head on being fully present (mind, body & soul) and assess the path(s) ahead with intentionality.

The world committed to ‘Never Again’ in 1945 after the horrors of the holocaust. Apparently Never only lasts 80 years. It only took 2 generations for the Fascists to take over the US, and the government & army of the people who were the target of the holocaust are the ones making it happen again.

My daughter is dating a wonderful young man from Somalia. He is his 4th year of an Undergraduate Astrophysics degree planning for grad school. I’d stack his IQ up against hers any day.

Sunday thoughts: With media attention on MAGA preacher Sean Feucht, it’s important to point out that many Christians have repented for their discrimination of the LGBTQ+ community. Their position better lines up with a WWJD mindset vs a MAGA mindset.

The recognition of the State of Palestine at the UN General Assembly is a big step and Canada again is on the right side of history. This needs to be leveraged for a quicker ceasefire in Gaza and a path forward towards peaceful coexistence.
