I've seen the same Qs a lot and it's never bothered me! I can understand how the concept is strange from the outside, I've even seen a few non-oc oriented artists confusion over it 😯

It's a transfer of ownership basically. Prices will reflect the nature of the usage (ie if you plan on using the design for commercial means, a commercial contract & price would be necessary)

It's different in that you're also buying the right to use that design for whatever personal means. Drawing, roleplaying, developing the character however, etc.... I have both bought and sold designs this way and would frequently develop + draw adopted charas in OC roleplays
