If you haven’t read them - Roger Zelazny, the Amber series is just magnificent. Jack of Shadows is excellent too - the guy didn’t write a bad book.
There’s the obvious Anne McCaffrey - the Pern series, also Crystal Singer.
M. John Harrison’s “Viriconium” paints a vivid picture of a strange future.

Beautiful, isn’t it! It was performed but Sting explained that it didn’t make it into the “Last Ship” musical. I hadn’t heard of Jo before but her voice, and her delivery of that song - absolute gold.
