Public Works crews were out this weekend clearing snow from the Mass Ave bike lane in the South End and the Washington Street bike lane in Chinatown.

Landry’s Bicycles will be offering free Clinic Nights at the shop, located at 44 Granite St. Braintree, and is extending an invitation to NEMBA folks for the clinics. The first two weeks in February they'll be covering pre-ride checks and then chain upkeep and adjustments, and things to look out for regarding chains and drivetrains. These are being held on Wednesdays from 6-7pm. The clinics would especially be helpful for newer riders. On 2/18, from 6-7pm, we'll be covering tubeless set-up and troubleshooting, things like clogged sealant, when to replace sealant, tire health, inserts and proper set-ups. For 2/25 from 6-7pm we plan on covering Suspension set-up, along with maintenance tips and when to have these components serviced. On Wednesday March 25, 6-7pm, they'll be hosting Matt from Pedro's to give a demo on the chemistry behind their products and showcasing some tools from Pedro's as well. This will be a great opportunity for folks to get informed right from the source on how to prevent early wear and keep their bikes ticking over nicely. We hope folks from NEMBA may be interested in attending and we are excited to see MTB folks and help them with their more complicated bikes. You can call Landry’s at (781) 519-6306 for more info.

We're still trying to wrap our heads around what happened in Minneapolis this week. It's senseless. It's oppressive. It's profoundly immoral. This Saturday we will do a short and snowy 30 to 45 minute MTB ride in the Middlesex Fells to join nationwide cycling communities standing with Minneapolis and the initiatives started by @angrycatfish. We ride in solidarity with the people of Minneapolis in memory of Alex Pretti, Keith Porter, Renee Good, Parady La, Heber Sanchaz Dominguez, Victor Manuel Diaz, Luis Beltran Yanez-Cruz, Luis Gustavo Nunez Cacares, Geraldo Lucas Campos, and everyone who has suffered at the hands of ICE. The ride starts & ends at JRA Cycles. Meet at 3:45, Ride at 4pm. This ride is beginner friendly and open to everyone with a MOUNTAIN BIKE or FAT BIKE. The speed will be slow, the distance short, and we expect to walk parts of the fire roads because of the poor conditions. We'll be there and we encourage you to be there too. HELMETS and Front + Rear LIGHTS required.

We enjoyed today’s bike ride with the @boston.gov & @streets.boston.gov in JP and Franklin Park, followed by delicious hot cocoa at the Ula Cafe!

Coming up Jan. 6: a MassDOT meeting about the Memorial Drive flyover bridge in Cambridge at the northern end of the BU Bridge:

“You can’t think about Argentina when you’re in Indiana,” he said. “You just get to St. Louis. Then Kansas City. And eventually it adds up.”

There were moments when the distance felt impossible. Studying a map one night in Indiana on his first cross-continental trip, Abouhamad panicked at how little ground he seemed to have covered. From then on, he stopped thinking about Argentina and focused instead on the next city.

Some offered backyards where he could pitch a tent; others invited him inside for dinner or a shower or a hot cup of tea. Through a hospitality network app for touring cyclists, he stayed with professors, retirees, and former riders who recognized what he was attempting almost immediately.
