Wonderful time today speaking to the kids at Smart’s Mill Middle School here in Loudoun about how the Constitution is designed to protect us and how the criminal justice system works.

Spent the morning in Richmond at the Democratic Party of Virginia’s central committee meeting. Great seeing my Congressional District 10 friends and Loudoun’s own Sen. Srinivasan sharing some of the bills he’s excited to pass!

Great Rotary club meeting this morning! Our current food drive has passed 500 pounds and we’ll be volunteering with the Town-Wide Clean Up and Keep Loudoun Beautiful on the 14th!

The Loudoun NAACP Freedom Fund Gala was an incredible way to wrap up the 100th Black History Month! And congratulations to my friends and colleagues Michele Burton and Shaniqua Clark Nelson for their well deserved trail blazer award!

Lectured today at the Richmond School of Law. I always enjoy teaching law students criminal law and trial practice!
Loudoun has some great parks and green spaces! Eileen and I were out with Rufus the Dog in Franklin Park. If you have the ability to do so don’t let the winter weather trap you inside!

One of the programs I love working on is Loudoun’s Law Camp, where local lawyers put on an incredible week long program for rising high school students. Applications are open! If you know a high school student who might be interested have them check it out!

Arabella Mansfield was the first woman lawyer in America, admitted to the bar in 1868. 158 years later female attorneys hold far fewer positions of power like judgeships. If you’re an attorney in Virginia please consider joining VWAA regardless of your gender to support your colleagues

Great time yesterday in Richmond attending the ceremonial swearing in of my friend John McAuliff to the Virginia House of Delegates. So excited to see the work he does for Virginia and my community!

The law is the great equalizer. No one is above its reach, no one is below its protection. This includes ICE officers. Thankfully some elected prosecutors are working on this. Unsurprisingly Loudoun’s CA is not one of them.

Loved being at the Governor’s inauguration! But as excited as I am for our new Governor, the real joy was seeing my friends and neighbors. From Loudoun and Fauquier Democrats, to the legislators I’ve gotten to know, to Loudoun’s own ADAMS youth choir. The people were more affecting than any speech.
It’s a party in Richmond as Democrats celebrate our sweep last November! Of course the best part of these things is running into friends!
Lobbying today with Justice Forward VA for a fairer criminal justice system. I was so grateful for the incredible legislators who met with me, and even more grateful for all the volunteers who drove down to Richmond today to speak up for people who have no one else to speak for them!
An important meeting of the Loudoun Bar Association today! We voted on which candidates for Judge we wanted to support. After a decade as part of the Loudoun legal community there’s rarely a candidate for Judge I don’t know well, and let me tell you, here in Loudoun we have some incredible options!
I spent some time at the pre-legislative session event for Sen. Perry and Del. Elect McAuliff. For the first time in over 30 years Western Loudoun, my home, has two incredible legislators. I couldn’t be more excited for the work they’ll do for all of us!
It was a beautiful and touching memorial yesterday for Renee Good, who was killed by an ICE agent. This is the inevitable result of lowering hiring standards, reducing training, and promoting a view that immigrants and people trying to help them are enemies trying to destroy our country.
As the Chair of the Loudoun Democratic Party I was able to appoint a new member to the Loudoun Electoral Board with the express requirement that they promote Sunday early voting happening. It was our priority and we did it!

Meeting with candidates for Judge here in the 20th Judicial Circuit today as part of a bar association qualifications committee. We interview candidates for Judge and giving our legislators the opinions of the community’s lawyers.
Today my term as the Chair of the Loudoun Democratic Party ended. I have loved working to promote Democratic principles, electing incredible candidates, and finally, finally, turning Loudoun’s delegation entirely blue!!!

Home for the holidays and spreading manure!
Arlington was the first place I practiced after graduating law school when I started working for the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office. I was in the area today so I swung by the Courthouse!
Loved presenting awards to our incredible volunteers yesterday at the Loudoun Democrats volunteer appreciation and holiday event yesterday. So many incredible people worked tirelessly to deliver November’s win in Loudoun! Now for the next year’s election!

Outrageously the Purcellville Town Council majority still refuses to make our interim police chief permanent after their plan to appoint one of their own members failed and their back up plan to completely defund our police department failed as well.
