Too true. He is a great loss to comparative law/globalisation scholarship.

Just been working with a survey which indicates how few UK universities teaching some form of comparative law include sessions on methodology. Tendency to teach "Comparative and international perspectives on ..." without thinking what that actually entails. Hopefully more positive in Finland.

Whole-heartedly agree. So many PhDs/articles start with the simple sentence, "I will be using functionalism ..." without considering methodology more deeply.

Students studying abroad as part of their degree do struggle with obtaining visas often arriving late as a result. If we want to increase student opportunities, this would be a great step forward.

As someone whose father has dementia, the concerns in this letter ring loudly. "Dementia is the biggest health and social care challenge of our time but the current system is not set up to meet the needs of almost 1 million people living with dementia in the UK"

"It is still remarkable that it has taken more than 2 years for a government to respond to the IICSA in any meaningful way".The Report came out in October 2022 and sexual abuse survivors still wait for details of any redress scheme bar the previous government's wait and see. Will Labour finally act?

Prof Jay's frustration is entirely understandable - a report highlighting safeguarding returns still awaits action from October 2022. And still no news about any redress scheme bar hints that it faces a government introducing budget cuts.

A pleasure and glad it went well. My parents were thrilled.
