the problem with modern videogame rpgs is they don't have quests like the one in phantasy star, where you need to bribe a governor with cake, but the only cake shop in the entire solar system is on a different planet, at the bottom of a four-floor dungeon, behind a locked door.

If a fictional race that's capable of flight also has flying vehicles, and you have to ask "why do they need those if they can fly?", I may have to consider you a liability to our species.

What a lame, reductive way of looking at any medium. SOME games are meant to be fun. Some are meant to be impactful, or challenging, or scary, or thoughtful.

If any medium ever only had one point it would be a bad medium.

tip: remember, games are supposed to be fun! and actually, the only thing that can ever be fun in a video game is combat. make sure players are doing combat at all times. a video game should ideally be a boss rush with no padding whatsoever

there's so much to unpack from how much vitriol north americans have for tutorials in games crossed with that thing where Japanese players see westerners and go "why are americans so bad at games?"

I enjoy twitch and streams but if there is one thing it has taught me it is that people don't read in video games most of the time and it might be my number one pet peeve for online video content.

This specifically is validating to read, 'cause like we all graduated elementary school. Reading should be second nature, what do you mean you mash A when text appears???
