I am in Reading for this weekend’s Argyle match. I intend doing Prospect
Parkrun and went there this morning to check out the course. Muddy and slippy. It is a two lap parkrun but I only needed to do one lap to do my recce. Regretting not bringing trail shoes! #parkrun #reading #berkshire #running

Tweet by Aaron Rupar saying Karoline Leavitt confirmed a “ballpark” estimate that 150 U.S. soldiers have been injured fighting Iran. The image shows Leavitt speaking at a White House press briefing with Fox News graphics about the war in Iran.

That's one way for the White House to tell the troops it doesn’t really think of them as individual people.

A magazine cover for The New World, issue 474 dated March 12, 2026. Across the top in a red banner is the headline “Operation Epic F**k-Up: Week Two.” The main cover image shows a political photomontage of a man resembling Donald Trump depicted wearing a black turban and a white beard, styled to resemble an Iranian religious leader, with large flames burning in the background.
The main headline reads “Supreme misleader.” Beneath it, smaller text reads: “Trump’s plan for Iran isn’t going to … plan.” The article is credited to Matthew d’Ancona and Paul Mason.

The latest cover of The New World.

This is silly and false. The only operators of Tomahawk missiles are the U.S. Navy, Royal Australian Navy, Royal Netherlands Navy and Royal Navy. Iran has no Tomahawk missiles. If it did, it’d have no way to launch them.

When I go clothes shopping with Mrs M when she is buying for herself, we favour shops with some seats so I can sit down and read while she gets on with the necessary.

A smiling man takes a selfie while standing beside a graffiti mural celebrating Plymouth Argyle Football Club. He is wearing a green “GB Ultras” running cap, dark glasses, and a black running shirt with the Plymouth Argyle crest and Puma logo.
Behind him, a concrete wall is painted with a large green Argyle crest featuring the ship emblem and the letters “PAFC.” The mural also includes stars and a cartoon-style character in green and white with a top hat and orange moustache. Trees and terraced houses are visible in the background under a grey sky. A smiling man takes a selfie while standing on a wide park path. He is wearing a green “GB Ultras” running cap, dark glasses, and a black running shirt with the Plymouth Argyle crest and Puma logo.
The path stretches away behind him between metal railings and rows of leafless trees. Several people are walking further along the path, and to the right there is a pond with grassy banks. The sky is grey and overcast.
Overlaid on the sky is an orange trace of the route. Strava statistics appear at the bottom of the image showing: distance 9.01 km, pace 7 minutes 14 seconds per kilometre, and time 1 hour 5 minutes. A Strava route map showing a solo running route through Central Park in Plymouth. The route is marked in red and forms a looping path around the park, passing landmarks such as Home Park stadium, Barn Park sports pitches, the Plymouth Life Centre, and the Central Park play space. The route also follows sections near Alma Road and Coronation Avenue before looping back through the park paths.
Text at the bottom reads “Solo Morning Run – A slow hilly 9k” followed by medal emojis. The run statistics show distance 9.01 km, average pace 7 minutes 13 seconds per kilometre, and total time 1 hour 5 minutes.

I took myself to Central Park in Plymouth for a slow and hilly 9k run. Guaranteed hilly in this park but at least none of them come as a surprise.

Two people smile at the camera while taking a selfie beside a quiet roadside on a grey, misty day. The man on the left is wearing a black running cap with “GB Ultras” on the front, dark glasses, and a light-coloured running top. The woman on the right has red hair tied back and is also wearing a light-coloured running top.
They are standing on a pavement next to a wooden fence and hedges, with houses behind them on the left and a road stretching into the distance on the right. A few cars are visible on the road, and leafless trees and low hills appear in the background under an overcast sky. A Strava route map showing a running route in Plymouth labelled “Storm Monday Morning Crew.” The route is highlighted in red and forms a large loop starting near Derriford, heading north towards Southway, then west past Whitleigh Wood, before looping back south and returning along the A386 near Derriford Hospital.
Key landmarks visible on the map include Southway, Whitleigh Wood, Derriford Hospital, Plymouth Marjon University, and Crownhill Fort.
Text at the bottom of the image shows the run statistics: distance 10.28 km, average pace 7 minutes 15 seconds per kilometre, and total time 1 hour 14 minutes.

A quick run with Tina. Only the two hills, but together they packed a punch with 185 m of elevation!!! The photo was taken before those hills wiped the smile from my face. Perfect timing though, as we finished just before the rain started. I really do love our Monday mornings together.

Genuine questions: could these people be in the pay of the regime? And would that, to use language some of them favour, make them both ‘economic migrants’ *and* ‘welfare scroungers’?

A large sculpture of an angel stands in an outdoor plaza beneath a grey, overcast sky. The angel has wide rust-coloured metal wings and a solemn face, with both hands extended forward. The figure’s body and wings are made from thousands of metal knife blades, creating a dense, textured surface.

This sculpture is known as the Knife Angel, a public artwork made from knives collected through police knife amnesty programmes to raise awareness about knife crime. The sculpture stands on a metal base surrounded by temporary barriers, with leafless trees and modern buildings visible behind it. A Strava activity summary showing a map of a running route through Plymouth, England. The route is marked in orange across city streets, starting near the top of the map and looping through the city centre towards the waterfront areas of Millbay and West Hoe before returning. The map includes markers for segment achievements, including “3rd best time – Millbay Sprint” and “2nd best time – Union Street.” A small thumbnail image of the Knife Angel sculpture appears on the route map.
Below the map, the activity is posted by Dave McCartney and titled “7.5 km Steadyish Run.” The description reads: “Plymouth 10K Plan (Week 2/12)” and “7.5 km at a conversational pace.”

The recorded statistics show: distance 7.51 km, average pace 6 minutes 37 seconds per kilometre, moving time 49 minutes 46 seconds, elevation gain 42 metres, calories 581, and average heart rate 141 beats per minute.

I had a steady run out in Plymouth this morning. Overcast but stayed largely dry.

[We see a close up of a young white male, tanned, white teeth, coiffed hair clearly an influencer on social media. It is an image such as you see when social media posts are shown on the news. In the corner of the screen is named a location: DUBAI. He is staring slightly off-camera for several silent panels of the comic strip. His eyes move slightly. He is having a thought.]

From off-screen a newsreader’s commentary comes:

NEWSREADER:

Extraordinary images here

of an expat in Dubai

[The influencer’s eybrows raise slightly]

…Having their first ever geopolitical thought.

[CUT TO a BBC news scene. The BBC newsreader CLIVE MYRIE is talking to an interviewee next to the screen showing the social media influencer’s face. The interviewee’s name is David Jones].

CLIVE MYRIE:

To explain the significance of this moment we’re joined by David Jones, our Expat Thoughts correspondent

DAVID JONES:

Clive, this is momentous

It was caught on film at the end of an Instagram post titled: ‘Dubai Is Brilliant’.

[Pointing at the screen, the influencer’s expression still the same]

You can clearly see in the eyebrows here, the dawning realisation that there *might* be something in the world beyond his dickhead self.

It marks a *huge* departure from all the Dubai Expat’s previous thoughts.

CLIVE MYRIE:

Which are…?

DAVID JONES:

You've Got To Get Yourself Out Here Mate, Everything Is So Clean, I Don't Have To Pay Taxes,
I Am Incurious As To Why I Do Not Have To Pay Taxes, and Spa.

CLIVE MYRIE:

And might we see an expansion of these new Thoughts in coming days?

DAVID JONES:

I think we can expect to see:

“I Deserve To Be Airlifted By A Country I Pay No Tax To”

CLIVE MYRIE:

Mmm.

Many years ago, I met some Bletchley ATS women. They, and their Y Station colleagues, are nearly all gone now.I have read about WATU wrens. A fascinating subject.

But this is not football, it’s a stadium tour, drawing back the curtain, scraping away the layers of paint.

I am otherwise engaged on that day (stadium tour with a friend from Yorkshire) but would love to know if the wrens at Bletchley get a mention. Loads of sterling work done by them there.
P.S. This pongo has lived here long enough now to know where Guzz is! 🤪

A view looking down a sloping residential street on a grey, overcast day. Cars are parked along both sides of the road, and small terraced houses in muted colours line the street. In the distance, a tall church tower with a pointed roof rises above leafless trees, and a high-rise building can be seen further behind it. Overhead wires stretch across the sky.

Strava text overlaid on the image reads “Slow 400m Repeats.” The recorded distance is 6.78 km and the time is 47 minutes 51 seconds.

A slow leg turner with some 400m repeats thrown in.

Our latest Cornwall4EU street stall went really well. We were in Penzance and were really lucky with the weather.
We spoke to lots of people, and although a few still supported Brexit - and 3 were not concerned about world events 🤔 - a huge majority would vote to return to the EU in a referendum.

Part of me wants both Iceland & Norway to join the European Union simply because:

-It would hopefully give Putin a massive fatal stroke
-A map of the EU showing the UK sitting as Billy no mates on its own surrounded entirely by EU member states would illustrate perfectly Brexit's backward stupidity

A hand holds up a small white parkrun barcode card against a bright green grass background. The card reads “I belong to parkrun” at the top and shows the number 0285 above a barcode. Long morning shadows stretch across the grass and a paved path runs along the right side. Overlaid Strava text reads: “Central parkrun #210 – My 87th.” Below that, the run statistics show Distance: 5.05 km, Time: 30 minutes 7 seconds, and Pace: 5 minutes 56 seconds per kilometre.
