Books, literacy, and access to information are crucial for society. Having access to information and different perspectives make us better, more empathetic humans. It’s why the people in power don’t want us to be informed. It’s why we advocate for libraries, because in the end it’s all connected.

Samuels Public Library is the library of my childhood. I would check out the same books, over and over again, sitting in the orange and yellow plastic chairs of their old building. IMLS Staff Return to Work Thanks to Court Order, Some Grants Restored. The federal workers dedicated to library funding are coming back to work after a ruling from a federal judge in Rhode Island. Tell the Warren County (VA) Board of Supervisors to stop their reckless plan to kill our library and open a new privatized the library under their control - which will cost taxpayers millions! It’s #NationalLibraryWeek. Celebrate your local library this week by writing or calling your local board and tell them to continue funding your #library, speak out against censorship, and call your reps on Congress, too. Federal funding has been axed, as well.

I think the line about an IMLS audit should be the thing sending chills up and down every person's spines.

They will use that info to spread misinformation about what the money was used for, just as their Instagram posts showed today.

They are 100% out to get every library and museum worker.

I also poked around the Library of Virginia website and couldn’t find anything. Their Facebook though seems to be doing a weekly post about what IMLS funds in VA.
