The Sleeper Issue That Could Destroy the Economy Trump may have stopped threatening Jerome Powell—but he’s still got designs to control the Fed.

"We may now be at an inflection point, as the Trump administration tacitly threatens to purge not only Powell but other officials who set interest-rate policy. If he’s successful, Trump could seize direct control of the money supply and turn America into Venezuela."

in all honesty, I really hope there are researchers who are capturing the effects of just how much federal money is going to Alabama now and looking at what the wealth and social impacts are.

On the 10th Anniversary of the Paris Agreement, you’re going to hear a lot about the progress we’ve made — people saying we “are” heading to 2.5 degrees heating instead of four.

I deeply regret to tell you that this is complacent misinformation.

Vladimir Putin's plan has *always* been to divide and cripple the U.S. empire, break our hard and soft power, and economically reduce America to the state of Russia in the 90s -> when senior citizens froze to death and gangs of abandoned, feral children swarmed the Russian streets.

Yes, it’s one they handpicked, and IIRC is actually a judge in management who only hears a small number of cases. It’s so flagrantly corrupt and a perversion of due process you almost have to laugh; then go off and file a bar complaint against the judge for violating ethics rules.

The immigration “judge” allegedly sua sponte — meaning without any request by a party, which is obviously a lie given the circumstances — “corrected” the 2019 order to fix a “scrivener’s error” and order Mr Abrego Garcia deported.

Not surprisingly, Judge Xinis blocked that. What a corrupt act.

A reminder that immigration judges work for the Justice Department, meaning they are not actual judges, and the administration now calls them “deportation judges” after pushing a bunch of them out.

Proud of our coalition’s work to make sure it happened. Starting way back in 2007. And especially last year, when it was put on pause.

We knew bold action was needed – even when it appeared politically difficult. Great to see it pay dividends for New Yorkers.

Poll: Majority of U.S. Catholics support death penalty despite catechism A majority of U.S. Catholics support the death penalty for convicted murderers in spite of Church teaching, according to a new EWTN News and RealClear poll.

An odd thing about this: CNA has at least three articles on this poll of "Catholic voters," but no links to toplines, etc.

To be clear: Not assuming anything nefarious here, just curious how they're defining "Catholic voters" — registered? Likely voters? www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/268415/...

Amanda Seyfried says she is not apologising for calling Charlie Kirk ‘hateful’ after his shooting The Housemaid actor received backlash in September when she left a comment on Instagram after the rightwing activist was killed The Housemaid star Amanda Seyfried has said she is “not fucking apologising” for describing Charlie Kirk as “hateful” after the latter was shot dead in September. Seyfried was speaking to Who What Wear when she was asked about her social media activity, including the backlash around her Kirk comment. “I’m not fucking apologising for that. I mean, for fuck’s sake, I commented on one thing. I said something that was based on actual reality and actual footage and actual quotes. What I said was pretty damn factual, and I’m free to have an opinion, of course.” Continue reading...

The thing is, you couldn't even get this group of pampered, egocentric, parasitic, lying ass con men to sit on a beam together on a green screen at ground level to photoshop into the air

They're all soft boys without a single gift outside of exploitation, and they know it. And we're paying for it.

Judge Xinis ordered Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s release in part bc ICE could not produce a final “order of removal” to deport him. So last night, they went out and got an immigration judge to issue one.

Now, Abrego is urging Xinis to block his redetention. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

For the first time this century, child deaths under age 5 will likely rise. Why? A dramatic drop in mortality for youngsters under age 5 has been one of the great accomplishments in global health. But estimates suggest that in 2025 child deaths will go up.

Vulnerable children are dying as the result of inexcusable, immoral policy choices by the most powerful. “One of the crowning achievements in global health is at risk of coming undone… Estimates suggest 2025 will be the first year this century that child deaths have gone up instead of down.”

The implication here is that HAD Ellison & Weiss known about the MTG segment, they would have intervened somehow- maybe even censored it-- to keep Trump happy. These folks should not have control of any news outlet, not a single one. Outrageous.

The man behind the fall of offshore wind David Stevenson has solar on his roof and drives a hybrid. How did he become the leader of the movement that helped Trump crush offshore wind farms?

David Stevenson isn’t a climate denier or clean energy hater. But he is at the center of a network of activists and political operators driving America’s anti–offshore wind movement — and a big reason why the Trump administration is so intent on destroying the sector.

Even worse, because that $183 actually means something to a person making $50k. Cuban could give away 90% of his wealth tomorrow and it wouldn’t have any material impact on his living conditions

He’s worth 6 billion. If he cared about humanity at all he’d immediately give at least 5 billion away. “I wanna solve homelessness in Texas” like fuck it he could end homelessness in Dallas right now for a song but charity, you see, must have an ROI and be negligible from your vast fortune

LA. Mayor Karen Bass has asked the City Council to increase the Los Angeles Police
Department's budget by $4.4 million to hire 410 more officers before July. In a letter to council members yesterday, Bass wrote that the city needs to have enough officers to keep Angelenos safe in coming years, including during major
events like the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Olympic Games. LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell made a similar argument at a Budget and Finance Commission meeting Tuesday, where he said that despite the city's budget problems, he worries about whether L.A. will be prepared for the Olympics in 2028 under
currently approved staffing. Several City Council members have already been pushing back against the proposal, arguing that the budget for those positions was negotiated and signed by Bass in

Are 410 more cops really going to make a difference when it comes to policing megaevents? There will be hundreds (thousands?) of federal agents here and other law enforcement agencies on loan from all over the world, just like when LAPD officers went to Paris last summer
