'Venus of Hohle Fels', 42,000 yrs old, mammoth ivory, oldest undisputed example of a depiction of a human, unearthed in southwestern Germany alongside a flute made from vulture bone (the oldest known musical instrument). Excavated not far from the famous Venus of Willendorf (30,000 yrs old, Austria)

The arrows point to the colour words inside the circle. Clockwise, the colours are: Black (North), Speckled, Dark, Purple (East), Yellow, Red, White (South), Greyish Green, Green, Pale (West), Dark Brown, and Grey.
As well as the various words for wind, the chapter notes the 10th Century text βSaltair na Rannβ (Psalter of Quatrains) which lists the colours of wind from each direction.
ManchΓ‘n elaborates on the cosmology of the colours, but here is an image I found online that simply depicts the compass

photo of the rug hanging on display at museum βsolitary [polar] bear adrift on broken iceβ
closeup of the polar bear
gallery label: βManufacturer: Grenfell Mission Industrial Department Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, active 1909-1984 Polar Bear on Ice Floe c. 1930 Jute burlap ground; wool and rayon or silk jersey pile This rug depicting a polar bear on sea ice was made by women working for the Grenfell Mission charity. The Mission helped women in fishing villages along the Atlantic coast earn income through the production and sale of rugs by supplying them with pattern kits and used nylon stockings donated by urban North American and British women. The company slogan, "When your stockings run, let them run to Labrador!," spurred the public to support their cause. Scenes of local, Arctic imagery captured the area's natural beauty and appealed to urban consumers. In today's climate emergency, however, this solitary bear adrift on broken ice serves as a reminder of Arctic wildlife at risk due to rapidly melting glaciers. Gift of Dena S.
