There are real, loyal, committed US civil servants whose lives are being upended by the Republicans and the administration without even vague assurances they will be made whole. The principles are out of control, and the Republican Congress has collapsed into complicity.

In just 16 days, NIH has shifted from actively including folks to expressly, explicitly & openly violating the constitution & anti-discrimination laws.

I have no doubt there’ll be an injunction—but undoubtedly they’ve already marked all the apps that hadn’t been disqualified based on race & gender

Didn't the 45 admin try to pull this with the 2020 census? Trying in part to sort northern European (preferred in many spheres) from southern, with animus toward Spain, Italy, Greece? Mexico is weird this way too: colonials from Spain are white but indigenous/mestizo not so much. It's BS.

This is the exact proper and correct response. Murphy is an exemplary leader at a time when Dems seem rudderless.

The thing about the Colombia, Mexico, and Canada traffic posturing is that if Trump is going to back off when countries do what they were already doing and claim victory to prop up his flaccid ego, then maybe that will be a vector of humiliation and national degradation but not total economic ruin.

Follow these folks. They're doing the hard work of democracy and leading by example.

It’s a major surprise to me that this is the first time it’s happened.

The methodology in defining a
top scientist was to look at the authors of the most cited papers in 129 scientific journals.

Since 2020, the number of U.S. top scientists has declined by 14% while it’s up by 77% in China.
