For Netanyahu, not unlike forPutin, ushering in an era of peace would not be conducive for him to stay in power or avoid imprisonment.

Somehow I don’t think this new era of peace is waiting around the corner.

Wasn’t there a movie about thought police and arresting people for what they were thinking and not for what they actually did?

The war in Iran is the geopolitical equivalent of that if you listen to Netanyahu’s justification or that of various Republican lawmakers.

Ah yes! Why let a little thing like the Constitution or the UN Charter get in the way of doing what we want?

Why do they even bother taking an oath to the Constitution any more? No one seems to care about, Fetterman in particular.

Some had undisclosed ties to Epstein of their own and knew that Trump and his DOJ were not above blackmail.

This isn’t a Federal government so much as a β€˜friends and family’ crime syndicate using our tax dollars to further their self-serving schemes.

Lindsey is high on his own supply. An indicted war criminal and a convicted felon are *not* β€œthe modern Roosevelt / Churchill combination”! πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

Just think if we had given Tomahawks to Ukraine back whenβ€” Ukraine would’ve knocked out the factories that produce those drones that have now been used against our allies and other friendly countries in the region.

What goes around comes around.

Well, they couldn’t really call it a Special Military Operation since Russia already had that option taken.

The lengths that dictators and their wannabe dictator buddies take to avoid calling a spade a spade amazes me.

It’s defensive in design? How so? Did any reporter ask a follow-up to have the Speaker explain himself?

Something to ponder when it comes to Trump and having a plan: (h/t @gtconway.bsky.social )

Every Ukrainian must be beside themselves to see so many interceptors expended in Qatar. Ukrainian air defenders had to forego the 2 interceptors for each incoming missile formula long ago. It’s a luxury for them to have so many on hand.

It didn’t have to be a substantial percentage either. Trump could have blessed the licensing agreement for Europe that Biden had agreed to. But he didn’t, because that would have benefited Ukraine.

Markwayne Mullin sure has claimed his fair share of camera time today! I keep seeing video clips of him every time I check out this platform today.

I think you’re probably right about that. If he really does try a coup, I hope it’s a resounding failure!

And to think that Trump rejected the opportunity to license Europe to manufacture additional Patriot interceptors to alleviate the supply constraints! πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

Further, Trump withheld the supply of Tomahawks to Ukraine that Ukraine would have used to take out the Russian drone and missile factories. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

@michaeldweiss.bsky.social just posted a β€œForeign Office” Substack interview with (drawing a blank on the name) a former CIA and senior Dept of State official (during Trump 1.0) who has some thoughts about whether Iran might negotiate a settlement.

Precisely! It’s attitudes like his that cause such things as the bombing of a girls elementary school on day one of the war.

I swear β€” delusion is becoming epidemic across autocratic regimes, even in the wannabe ones like Donald’s. Must be something in the water.

Olena Zelenska would be in a much better position to be leading a discussion on this particular topic. She could have been invited as a guest speaker.

If only Trump had OKed a license so that Europe could have opened up a manufacturing plant to produce Patriot interceptors. They might not have been running so
low on their interceptor missiles already.

Ukraine has been working towards this same goal for years now. Why not include its experts in this consortium? It has the most urgent need, after all.

I love the little tastes that we get of Ukrainian humor from time to time. Gallows humor definitely has its role in keeping people sane! It’s hard to appreciate it until you find yourself in a tough situation. Then it becomes your salvation.

What does it even mean to be β€œnearly under threatβ€œ anyway? Is it another way of saying that we weren’t actually under threat, just β€œalmostβ€œ under threat?

It doesn’t mean *imminent*, I’m pretty sure.

Exactly! Though I hope you caught what Rutte had to say today in an interview (I think on Fox News). He was commending the β€œcommander-chief”, the ”leader of the free worldβ€œ for going after the Iranian regime. He was gushing with praise. No mention of international law or any such trivial matters.
