I’m no tactical genius so Unai’s forgotten more than I’ll ever know but against Utd it felt like their two 10s pulled Kamara and Onana into places they didn’t want to be then their two central midfielders just dictated the game. Saw a few times Kamara out towards our right back area..

Atrocious refereeing decision aside, #avfc seem to have an issue with teams who play 3-4-3.

Palace, Wolves and now Utd have all caused us multiple issues and we haven’t come close to looking like we have any idea how to counteract it.

Still, a summer refresh will no doubt happen so bring it on!

After watching last night I am perfectly chill about Sunday.

Not sure I could agree with that. We sold him and were infinitely worse and in a relegation fight.

Unai arriving was one of the very best things to happen to us but before that things were looking very bleak indeed post-Grealish

Quick point about the Jack booing yesterday.

Whilst I totally get his decision to leave from a professional POV football is emotional and tribal.

The fact is he was living every #avfc supporters dream. Captain. Best player. Hero.

And it *still*wasn’t enough for him, and that’s what hurt.

I’m hoping we can do a reverse of last season and get stronger as the season goes on.

With Bailey and Philogene out of form and Ramsey injured it gives us solidity and plenty of passing options in possession. To be fair JJ could also play centrally in that system too when he’s back

Stupid goal conceded aside we’ve looked composed and solid and could have scored more with a better final ball

I too had my first ST in the inaugural Premier League season and had been to a handful of games before that so I can resonate with almost everything you wrote - I never stood on the old Holte though. I had to watch from the safety of the North Stand for its last stand against L’pool!

The last time we played in this competition was just before I was born so regardless of current form or final result I am going to make sure I soak it all in - you never know how long it may be until we are back.

I have always gone to the football with my Grandad, Dad and brother and it has always been the glue that binds us together in a way nothing else can.

Funnily enough my nephew came with us for his 1st ever match on Saturday but reading that almost makes me feel better about that Palace goal now! 😜

Make all concourses like this and open them up a few hours before (and even after) the game and Mr Heck will soon find that he makes a lot more money.

Unfortunately as soon as we finished 4th there was always going to be a section of our fan base who were going to be like this.

Even if we finish 12th, stick with it and let Unai build something. Progress is rarely a linear thing in football

Still my favourite ever Villa game!

Minutes from being out in normal time and rescuing it. Dalian’s mazy run in extra time to nearly win it and then being one kick away from losing the penalty shootout.

What a game!

He was a better player than he got credit for at the time. He was a good foil for Yorke and set up a lot of his goals

From memory he did. Just remember us being battered 5-0 and him losing it with the fans then getting transfer listed. Was the beginning of the end for him

And just over 2 years later at the same venue was the end for him when he spat at the away fans 😬
